I entered Canada on a work visa and currently staying at a hotel. I want to apply for a SIN, health card, bank account etc. Can I apply for these and give my hotel address?? Or do I have to wait to get into a apartment and give them my house address?

Thanks.

You'll need to provide an address where you can receive the documents. The most improtant part is that you can support your legal status in Canada. Check this: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/proof.shtml

Good luck!

I suggest opening a Post Office box and using that address. It is more secure than sending mail to a hotel.

The other 2 being possible, the Health Card application requires an Annual Lease Contract.

That is excellent. I can open a PO Box right away and then apply for the SIN.

Thanks very much for the replies.

Hi,
The Post Office asked for a Canadian address to open a PO Box. I did not have that so they setup a "General Delivery" under my name. So if you are unable to open a PO Box, ask them about "General Delivery".

Also note that the "General Delivery" address is quite long, it does not fit the SIN system, so ask the Post Office for the shortest address which would work. I used something like "GD" for "General Delivery".
