Hi there,

I have just finished with a Masters program from an Ontario university and am eligible to apply for the ONTARIO MASTERS GRADUATE PNP STREAM.

Some of my friends are not applying for PR under this stream yet because they're not sure if they want to stay in Ontario (which is a condition to apply in this stream) or move elsewhere if they get a better job.

My question is: because of the new EE, aren't they taking a risk doing so? They may lose out on this pilot (temporary) program if they don't apply under it and may not even get PR under some other program like EE if they move to another province because of too much competition in EE and insufficient points due to lack of LMIA. This pilot program doesn't have all those complications I believe.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi
I would recommend you to apply under the ONPNP. Although paper work takes longer time in this waiting game, there is no rejection case happened in visa office of OTTAWA. If you want to apply through EE which means you must be qualified under a category( CEC, FSW, and so on), that requires working experience inside Canada or outside Canada . Otherwise, if you have working experience and your score is above 450, it is highly recommended to apply under EE.

One of my friends who applied through EE got PPR only 3 MONTHS after submitting app!! That was amazing!! Just some suggestions, plz correct if I am wrong.

Your friend probably had LMIA from his Canadian employer, otherwise most international post-grads who are without LMIA have less points and therefore have to wait until the points threshold goes lower, right?

I just graduated from a Masters program so I have no Canadian work experience. So I have to wait maybe a year or two to gain experience and then apply under EE with sufficient points or I can apply under ONPNP now itself. So how does timing difference matter much?

Main problem is where is the guarantee of getting PR in the EE program with so much demand and so many streams all combined now?

1. no,my friend does not have the LMIA, but her score is really high around 480 since she has working experience both inside and outside Canada and her language is average CLB 10

2. Yes you can apply under ONPNP immediately after graduation, normally it takes 3-6months to get the nomination(certificate) and then around a year to get ppr(passport request),however,if you apply under EE, it only takes 3 months to PPR once you get the invitation. It is true that EE is not garanteed because it is totally decided by CIC to choose candidates and send invitations.

3. The only norm of EE candidates selection is your comprehensive score, the higher score you have, the sooner you will be invited. I'd like to copy a link of EE CRS calculation but I'm not allowed, you can reach that from CIC website.
Hope this helps :)

Yeah EE is definitely faster if you have more points but. If you don't you have to wait to get them. OTOH, applying through ONPNP is like locking in your application right now, knowing that you'll definitely get selected, even if it's after 1-2 years. And anyways, if I get a 3 yr PGWP, I don't see much problem with waiting for PR for slightly longer.
