Hello,

I am a Canada PR and currently live in Canada. my girlfriend is currently living in my home coutry. if I come back to my home country and marry my girlfriend, can I apply PR for her under spouse stream right away? And do I need to fulfill any other requirement that isn't pointed out on government's website?

Thank you.

There is no waiting period. However, since you are. PR and not a citizen, sadly, you need to return Canada and apply for outland spousal sponsorship for your wife.

Once you receive AOR, your wife can apply dor visitor visa and live with you in Canada

Good luck.

Are you compliant with your RO? Assume no criminal record. Those would be the 2 biggest potential issues

You'll have to show it's a genuine relationship - history of relationship, evidence of such, etc.

Would add that depending on whether or not you were able to date in a Western style I would suggest spending some time together in person after you get married. In person time in a relationship especially if you are part of a culture where it hasn’t been possible to date one on one longterm, travel together, live together, etc. you don’t have a lot of proof of a relationship. For example even taking a short honeymoon together after marriage would be a good idea. In many provinces your spouse will not qualify for health coverage until they become a PR or work full-time so take a honeymoon but please take precautions against pregnancy until you know your spouse will qualify for health coverage. There may also be an up to 3 month wait period for coverage. We are seeing many more sponsored spouses arriving in Canada pregnant and not qualifying for health coverage. Many also don’t have the funds to pay out of pocket for care and it can be difficult to find a doctor and hospital accepting patients without provincial healthcare.
