Guys, if I have fulfilled the requirements for citizenship application, can I submit my citizenship application from out of Canada? I will be eligible to apply under bill C-6 law so obviously there will be no intend to reside proof needed anymore( I know I should go back for test, interview, oath etc) . Also on average how long does it take from when you apply for citizenship and when they set a test date?

its a good question, since there doesn't appear to be a residency requirement for Canadian citizenship anymore.

well there's no harm in trying......not sure if a Canadian address is required for CIC to mail your notices.
Go ahead and apply. Let us know any updates

And I hope not too many people are trying this... or it would just give cons a really good reason to bring back the intend to reside or entire C-24 next time when they are elected...

Well, there is a giant hole in the law now. Its practically difficult to do, but it seems like under the letter of the law its possible to qualify for a grant of Canadian citizenship without ever being a Canadian "resident"--depending upon what one means by that.

Still, practically speaking even when there was no "processing period residence requirement" prior to C-24, CIC seemed to require a Canadian address to process an application and lying about your residence was considered fraud. Of course, nobody ever defined what "residence" really meant for citizenship purposes.

it's kind of people like this get us into trouble, residency requirement was established under harper c24 after 150,000 Lebanon-Canadian evocation lebanon which surprised the harper government during the rise of ISIS of how many of them radicalized and some of them went back to fight in Iraq and Syria.

Lets not judge. I will be in US working on a mission from a Canadian company and will be returning back after. I just wanted to not miss a few months thats it. It wont be a big deal for me to wait and apply when I come back. I asked a simple question, would be great if we help each other only if we know the answer. Thanks
