Hi All,

I need some advice, I am a July 2013 applicant, I have done my meds & were uploaded on Mar 28th, paid RPRF & submitted everything requested & now am just waiting to hear from CIO. My current WP is expiring on May 30th should I apply for BOWP or wait few more weeks? When do u think is my last chance to apply for BOWP?

I know that one of the conditions is to have a valid WP so I don't know what to do, wait or apply :( .. Very confused here any advise would be appreciated..

Is anyone in the same boat?

You can wait for another 1-2 weeks. If you submit your BOWP application a couple of days
before your current work permit expires, then you're still eligible and under implied status when
it expires. Chances are you get your PR application approved before that.

Thanks Toby, but lets say I got the PPR but recived my COPR after my WP expires, will I have issues landing since my current status in Canada had expired? Do u know anyone who landed with an expired status?

Good luck with ur application, I hope u land pretty soon :) ...

CBSA Officer will have all your information regarding CIC at the moment of landing...

So can I land with an expired status?!

If you look at the back of your WP there is a paragraph that says for you to extend at least 30 days before the expiry date. While this is not a hard rule but more of a best practice (because you'll default under implied status if you apply before expiry), I'd rather do it soon. It's a bit more complex explaining the "implied status" to Service Canada for the SIN and the Health Card renewals, and in my case to the kids' schools (one is entering tertiary this Sept).

I'm also a July 2013 applicant but my WP expires in Aug. I gave myself a deadline to get the BOWP mid-May in case the PPR still hasn't arrived, and apply for my dependents' extensions in June if needed. Remember that we're still within the 13 months processing so it's hard to guess when the PPR will come, even if we see July/Aug/Sept applicants getting theirs.

Do you have dependents?

In the event that you haven't landed by the time your current permit expires, and if you want to continue working past the expiry of your work permit, then you should apply for the BOWP. You can do that up to and including May 30 (online). I wouldn't recommend cutting it quite that close, tho. A day or two before should suffice.

Note that if you apply for the BOWP and you get the COPR before they have started processing it, you can withdraw the application and request a refund.

Yes, I have one dependent but she is Canadain, I am honesty tired of applyin for Study permits, work
Permits & traveling visas, I have been living here for almost 10 years & I'd rather not apply for another WP, but it is what it is, if I have to ill do it :( ..

My spouse has a PGWP which is good til Aug..

Thanks Jes_On, good to see you back in the forum :)..
I didn't know that I can withdraw a WP application & get a refund, this is great news..
I think ill wait for 2 weeks then submit my application .. Can I land with an implied status? Will it be on with the border officers or would they give me hard time?
