hi there,

i am a indian citizen but i lives in new zealand since 5 years. i have got a job here and holding a work permit, i have applied my trv at sydney visa office for canada as i am going to attend my frnd's convocation in canada who has provided me a invitation letter and a convocation ceremony invitation from his collage as well. i have no travel history except my visas in nz (as i renewed my visa 5 times in last 5 years) as i have been living in nz since 5 years. i have provided all necessary documents including 3200 cad$ for 10 days stay in canada and a letter from my employer stating my leave approved and resuming date on work. but my frnd sent me invitation letter with his sign at bottom and without notary public.

do i have good chances to get trv???? please share your views... thanks

Hey Samsaini,

The decision on your application depends on your personal circumstances. As long as you have provided strong evidence that you will return back to NZ at the end of the visa and wont overstay you will be fine. I hope you have provided some proof to confirm that for eg - letter from employer that you are going on leave or the date when you are required to come back and start work etc. Itinerary for a return air ticket and enough funds to cover your holiday in Canada.

I am an Indian citizen too and Australian permanent resident. I applied mine in Sydney and got the approval in 24 hours and the passport back in 4 days after being stamped. I applied online on 10th April 2013 in the afternoon and got the request for passport on 11th April at 10 am so that was very quick.

If you have sent all the documents and your file is decision ready you will be fine.

Hope this information helps.

Good luck :)

thanks alot for sharing your experience.
well i am not a permanent rsidence yet but i have submitted all the documents including bank balance, a support letter from my employer which says they have approved my leave and i will resume my job on 22nd june, last one year tax return annual income summary. an affidavit sworn, hotel booking in canada but i did not submit returned air ticket as i havent got my visa yet,

i am little worried about one thing which is.... the invitation letter i have got from my friend is just signed by my friend and does not have ant notary stamp on that letter. because i tried to find checklist for sydney visa office which does not show if the invitation letter should be notarised or not??? soooo little worried about that.

Dont stress now.. You have already submitted your documentation. Just hope for the best. I submitted an itinerary but didnt pay for the ticket until i got the Visa. Also, it says on the website that its not mandatory for the letter to be notarized.

When did you apply ? was it by mail or online?

cheers

no buddy. No response so far. I am bit worried as i suppose to fly until next weekend due to my friend's convocation ceremony date. 3rd june is public holiday. So i have just 4 working days untill friday to get my passport visa stamped. Even i dont if they processed my case or still in process or already sent me back by mail. I have no information at all. So far they took 8 working days since my application arrived at visa office.

hi buddy.
yesterday i sent a email to visa office to find out my visa status but they just replied with the reference number for my application and they said my application was received on may 23rd. thats all i got.
now i am just waiting untill friday if they send my passport with their decision untill friday. otherwise it will be useless even if they will give a visa after friday because i will not be able to attend convocation in canada. so just 4 days left :(

no man. nothing happened so far. the convo ceremony is on 11th june. so i suppose to fly this weekend but i havent got their response yet, now i think they gonna decline my visa by giving a excuse that i am not able to go for ceremony because i dnt have enough time untill 11th. even i dont know if they gonna decide my visa by 11th or after 11th. so it makes me hopeless now :(
