So, one month ago I applied to extend my visitor status. I logged onto my eCAS today to see DM for my PR application on the PA side.

Will my visitor status extension request just be tossed out now? I applied by paper, so they haven't even looked at it yet and won't for another couple months likely. Is there anything I have to do or can I just leave it be?

Congratulations first of all, you don't need your visa extended anymore as you became PR, you can withdraw/cancel that application for refund if applicable otherwise your application won't be approved because you are no longer a visitor.

Thank you! Yeah, that's what I suspected. According to the CIC website, they're working on applications from February and mine was submitted in May, so I suspect I have plenty of time before they start processing my application even if I book a landing appointment and wait until I have landed to withdraw it.

That's another question. Will I need proof of my implied status to schedule a landing appointment? I'd rather not land at the border, because my husband and I don't have a car. We could have a family member drive us across the border and they could get groceries etc and we could return, but I'd rather not go through that hassle. I have plenty of time, so I don't mind waiting a few weeks for a landing appointment. All I need to do for that is call the call center and ask to schedule a landing appointment?

I can schedule a landing appointment from within Canada even though I applied outland, correct?

Thank you!

I'll call them and see how long they say it'll take to get an appointment. If it ends up being more than a few weeks, I'll just bite the bullet and have a family member drive us across the border and back. Part of it is honestly that I was given that voluntary withdrawal at the crossing at the Peach Arch... and it wasn't a pleasant experience. It's not going to feel good walking back into that place.

yes definitely. whatever happened in the past is not relevant anymore. that COPR is your ticket to a happy life in Canada, and you're experience will certainly be different at the border.

If your implied status is an issue, they can look it up, just bring the receipt of payment and don't withdraw it until you land.
