Hi

My girlfriend applied to extend her stay as a visitor here in Canada because she gave birth in May.
She is back to normal now, and in her application it stated that she would like to stay here during these first few months with me (daddy) and also be here for the Christmas holidays.

We just heard back that they want to do a medical exam. I'm wondering if this is a good or bad thing?
Thoughts?

Thanks!

Neither. It is part of the process.

Don't try to read between lines.

Ah I see. Does it happen to all stay extensions of visitors?
Not to all, but it is common.

No. A medical is required if a person was living in a risk country for 6 consecutive months in the one year prior to entering Canada and they want to stay in Canada for longer than 6 months.

Depending on your status in Canada say a PR/Citizen and if you are able/intending to sponsor her as member of the family class then the medical is valid (for 12 months) for the immigration process which is actually in your favour.
