My study permit was expiring on the 31st of july, and I managed to submit and pay my documents on the 31st. I do know that this is acceptable (not sure about it) as long as i dont apply after the 31st of july. However I just got a message from cic asking me to pay additional 200 to restore my status.

Can someone advice me on this matter?

i called up the customer service department and they told me it was a glitch and i shouldnt have to pay anything. in other words i didnt lose my status. the requirement is that u apply at least 30 days before it expires but it also doesnt mean that u automatically lose your status if u dont apply 30 days ahead. u only lose your status after the expiry date. but thank you for your response.

you lost your status . you suppose to applied 30days before it expires

There is no such rule. As long as your application reaches CIC before your visa expires, you are fine.
