Hello,
I have citizenship oath ceremony scheduled soon but my PR card is expiring 5 days before the oath date. Do I need to apply to renew my pr card? Will I still be considered under applied status during these 5 days?
Thank you

Assuming you are IN Canada, and will be participating in the oath ceremony, there is NO need to have a valid PR card . . . so no need to apply for a new PR card.
The capability to travel internationally can be affected by the expiration of a PR card, since most PRs need a valid PR card to board a flight coming to Canada. And a PR may need a valid PR card when applying for things like provincial health care or a drivers' license. Otherwise, a PR (which is what you will continue to be right up to taking the oath) does NOT need a valid PR card. The expiration of the PR card has NO impact on the PR's status.
In addition to the above, I want to emphasize that even if your PR card expires, your PR statusdoes not expire. You are always a PR unless you have formally had your status revoked or have relinquished it voluntarily (this can include changing your status, such as becoming a citizen).
