I'm currently apply for the work permit under the scheme 'Public policy: Open work permits for Hong Kong recent graduates'. So it says that it'll give open work permit for maximum 3 years or till the expiry date of passport. My passport is expiring in Mid-December 2021, so I have a little over 6 months left.

Which means, I'll get the OWP for ~6/7 months once approved. But I've also recently applied for new passport. Let's say I receive my new passport by next week, is it possible to request CIC to give the OWP based on the new passport, which will then be a 3 year OWP instead of the current under application ~6 months.

If yes, how do I raise this enquiry to CIC?

Hi Iqbal,

I'm from HK as well. They can probably update the duration If you submit a web form and upload a letter of explanation to ask CIC to update your visa's letter.

Renew your passport before applying OWP. If you renew passport after that, the passport number will change and you will need to reapply eTA too.
