So I went to the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Monday, December 15, to follow up on my request for an update on my application status.

It was a waste of time, energy, and gas to have driven up there.

I got there and the only point of contact was the security guard who had limited to basic knowledge about the visa process. He just told me to fill in an inquiry on this pink piece of paper and give it in. I was pissed, as you can imagine. But yeah, it wasn't the poor guy's fault. So I filled the sheet up, handed it in, and left.

AND I had earlier sent in an email to the embassy at abdbi@international.gc.ca about my application status and 2 days ago they replied. The email response read:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your recent email enquiry.

Your application is still in process pending background checks.

We trust that this information will be of assistance.

Immigration Section / Section de l’immigration/DK
Canadian Embassy / Ambassade du Canada
Abu Dhabi"

This coming Sunday, it will be 6 weeks since I applied for the study permit (which I did online through myCIC).

I feel helpless and it sucks BIG TIME.

This feeling of uncertainty about my future is killing me!!!

i m very scared my class starts on 8 jan and orientation is on 10 jan. u think i can make it ?

bro, can you tell me how they informed you about their decision? i am still waiting and haven't heard anything from them ???

no idea bro. i am on the same boat as you. i have been waiting since nov 7. i haven't received any updates and my classes start on jan 7...sirf duaa hi kar saktay hain

i don't know myself what you can do to make your application stronger but I think that if you do the following, it will maybe make your case better:

1) have more funds available in the accounts you're showing (seeing as they rejected your application for the reason of insufficient funds)
2) write a more solid personal statement (the page long written thing that you have to submit stating why you're going to canada for education)
3) apply well in advance (because you applied on dec 1 maybe and their standard processing time is 8 weeks maybe that is why they did not further your case)
4) if you live in the UAE, i suggest you contact W W I C S . it is an agency that deals with immigration to canada. i have dealt with them myself and it is good to have extra guidance on these things

Guys did you already made payment in your accepted universities before applying for the permit?
Did anyone provide with letter of explanation?IF so what should be included in it?
is it necessary to have a Canadian bank account for the study permit?

have u submited pakistani bank statement only if yes then try to submit UAE bank statement also and to me the reasone y u were rejected coz u have showned only three month bank statement as u have mentioned earlier u should submit atleast 4 month to 6 months statement .

i think the embassy sends an email for passport request...

btw waleed, did you apply online or paper-based through the VAC? you submitted your passport at the time you submitted your applications and all your documents? and did you send an email to the embassy inquiring about your application status?

i applied through VAC Kuwait. and yes i gave my original passport at the time of submitting my doc to vac kuwait.they took my biomatric and picture at the same time and also application and biomatric fee. and then gave me a reciept on which my tracking id was given through which i can track my application any time in vac website.
