Applied Online for visa - Can I send passport from a different country not mine?

Hi,

So here is the deal. I made a visitor visa application online for my dad. I live in Canada. He lives in Venezuela. Hopefully he should get the approval and request for passport in the next day or two.

Thing is he is traveling to the US this weekend for three months, therefore, he cannot send the passport trough the VAC center in Venezuela since he needs it for traveling.

Can he send his passport to one the US Vac Centers? (New York or L.A.) ?

The application was done online, so this is pretty much send it to get the visa stamped.

The passport request letters don't even specify an office. So I think shouldn't be a problem, but want t opinion of somebody that know more or went trough this already.

Well, as I thought my dad got the approval today, just got the email. Says he has 30 days to submit his passport.

Pleasee anybody!! Can he submit the passport to any VFS office? He won't be able to do it home, he is leaving for 3 months on the weekend, and no office in my city.

I guess you can't since on the application form that was filled out, you were asked if you are applying in the country of residence? So, in my understanding based on our experience is you have to submit your passport to the country where to state in your application. Otherwise, try to inform both the consulate in your homecountry and CIC in USA of the route that you want.

Please be aware that passport stamping in the USA will take awhile. MAke sure that this wont jeopardize your stay in the USA if for example the stamping will take 20 days. And make sure that you have enough time to process this in the USA

Hi !

My dad is staying for 3 months in the US, so that won't be a problem. My sister is US citizen and lives there and he is trying to get something done there, so time won't be a problem. I just don't know if they will stamp the visa form him or not.

I sent an email to the new york office, but God know how many days it will take for them to answer.

One thing is that for Venezuelans visas are not even stamped in the country anymore. You take it to VFS Center and they ship it to Mexico !

Yes, it is possible to get your TRV stamped in the country you are visiting.

You must email the visa office which processed your application + the visa office of the country/region where you are presently and request them to confirm that you can submit your passport for stamping this way
