Hello Guys,

Here is our story:
My Mother in Law applied online for Super Visa(actually, I've done all the work:) ) and we eventually got approved with the following passport request: " This is in reference to your application for temporary residence. A decision has been made on your application. We require your passport to finalize processing your application." We passed the medical exam and bought a one year health insurance.
We noticed that the Visa attached in the passport had the word Multiple but had no idea how Super visa should look like. And later in Toronto's customs it turned out that it is TRV multiple thus we only have time for 6 months staying.
Has anyone had the same issue? Was it a mistake done by Visa office and they issued a wrong visa type? or It is a general rule when Visa office approves another type of Visa differ from the original request and provides no notification/explanation for applicants?
Thanks.

Yes, it is a common courtesy that if your supervisa was not approved but you qualify for multiple entry then the later is given. This is actually quite good, as before if the supervisa was refused then you wouldn't get any at all.

No notification nor explanation is needed. It is quite clear if the TRV was given as single, multiple or supervisa. Also it is agreed on submission that you might not get what you asked for.

Supervisa should say under category "PG-1" and a regular TRV can say "V-1" or "B-1" or "W-1".

(Before thinking it is amistake on CIC it would be better to check your application papers, maybe you didn't tick the right boxes. This happens a lot.)

Thanks for explanation, I'm keeping in mind that the culprit is our NOCs for 2015 which is a bit lower than in Low Income Cut-off (LICO) for 3 persons. Although I explained that my wife and I had good salaries, it was not enough, I thought it might work...I guess we will apply for extension for now.
As far as i know, it is possible to apply for Super visa while being in Canada, will try after new NOCs issued.

Supervisa can only be processed out of Canada. You can send a paper application to the USA when she is in Canada though.

Look in the TRV under "number of entries".

It takes 2-5 buisness days for stamping, add to that mailing time.

@Jalex23 hi

For a supervisa application to get approved is it mandatory to give at least one NOA? I mean if i apply for my parents supervisa right after getting a job with just an official letter from the employer mentioning the annual salary will it suffice ? thanks in advance for your insight.
