Hi,

I applied online for a study permit on 23rd February for May 2017 intake at the University of Waterloo. Still, my application is in progress... I enquired several times using emails and IRCC web forms to all IRCC offices in India. Bengaluru office informed me that my application is being processed at the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi. After that I sent several emails to the Delhi office. I got one reply from Delhi's IRCC office on 1st of May that "Due to exceptionally high volumes of applications, our processing times are longer than usual. In the interests of fairness, applications are processed in the order in which they are received, thus we are unable to accommodate your request for expedited processing." They did not say how long it will take to process my application. Should I postpone my joining semester?

You should at least let your university know that this is happening so that they know in advance. They may give you a time limit to postpone...

I have informed the university and my supervisor that this is happening. I also asked them if there is anything that the university can do to expedite. They said they have no leverage over governmental agencies and can do nothing to speed up the process. So, it seems that I have no other option. I can only wait till the IRCC office takes a decision on my application. Therefore, I told the university to wait for a few days. Otherwise, defer my joining term to Fall. If they refuse to defer, I will be in trouble.

It is my understanding that they can easily defer your intake, so don't worry, either you will get your visa on time or they will defer your intake!

Hi,

I applied online for a study permit on 20th January for May 2017 intake Still, my application is in progress... I have received a notification from cic on 6th February for some additional document which i submitted later on the same week. Then i got a call from Bangalore office for medical test on 28th March. During my telephonic conversation they told me that they verified all my document and now they just need my medical report to make a final decision on my visa by the VO, which i submitted on 5th April. Now my medical is passed its been a month i have not received anything from them and my classes are starting on 8th May.

Can anyone suggest me is it normal and what should i do now?
