Applied for PR Renewal - still In process

Hi there...
I applied to renew my PR card which was to expire on the 3rd of June, 2013. this is the timeline according to the CIC site:

We received your application for a permanent resident card on March 26, 2013.

We started processing your application on April 5, 2013.

We transferred your application to the local CIC office on September 29, 2013. The local CIC office may contact you.

I havent heard from them since then!!! Doesn it usually take this LONG time to process the papers? Is there anything I can do to at least ask why the hold up? I want to travel to my home country in August but dont know whether I should actually reserve the ticket or not!!

Did you apply for normal processing or urgent processing? How many days of residence you had?

I calculated my days to be around 740 days in canada. but ofcourse this isnt the case anymore-I have been in canada ever since I sent my application-which is more than a year ago. I did try to call them but they told me the exact thing as written on the website-it is in my local office and I will be contacted/mailed once a decision has been made!
