Hello
My husband and I we both applied for our PRs when we were single. He moved to canada in january 2019 and then I applied for my PR and my application got approved in November 2019. We got married in January 2020 and I landed in canada in February 2020. I didn’t update my marital status because I assumed I don’t need to as my husband is already PR there and we don’t need to sponsor each other. Now I want to update my marital status in canada. Will this create an issue for my citizenship or IRCC?

If you both were PR already when you married. Then there is no issue whatsoever. You don’t even have to update IRCC about your marital status

yes but some people are telling me it will cause an issue during citizenship so I thought of confirming

You misrepresented you status and should have declared that you were married before you landed. Given that you don’t need to sponsor anyone it probably won’t be an issue.
