I am going to apply for a PR in CEC category in next two days but my visa is going to be expired on 16 december. What can I do to extend my stay here? I know about bridge open work permit but it need AOR and I cant get AOR in 1 month.
Someone suggested me to apply a work permit by mail and you will come on Implied status till the time you will get back a reply that is 60 days.
Can someone suggest me whats the right thing to do in my case?

You can certainly apply for a visitor permit, which allows you to stay for another 6 months legally without losing your status. Meanwhile you have your PR in process, before the 6 months get expired you can extend it once more for another 6 months, this is what I did and I only used 2 months of the second one. But while on visitor permit, you can neither work nor study. You have to survive till your CEC application comes to completion.

The second option is what 'that somebody' suggested, I also did that, literally 2 days before the expiration of my work permit, but I had an LMO going on (which eventually was rejected), I went under 45 days of implied status and the work permit was denied because I did not have any positive LMO! After they reject your extension, they will give you a 90 days grace period to sort out your status, this is when I went and applied for a visitor permit.

Honestly it's all your choice now. Do your studies best and then make a move.

What I can push you for right now, is that if you are eligible for CEC apply right away and don't miss a day, every day counts, sooner you get it done sooner you're off the hook.

Don't lose hope, keep your chin up and fight for it.

Best of luck,

I was in exact same situation so don't worry it will work out. Just apply for paper based BOWP and write CIC a letter saying you have already applied for CEC PR and have not recieved AOR at the moment.

When I applied for BOWP, I included all my pay stubs as well as my pay order for CEC application plus the courier print that CEC application was delivered on that particular date. It did take over 60 days but earlier this week I got my BOWP. Paper based BOWP is taking 60 days so you already should have 4 weeks headstart to get AOR before BOWP is processed. Go the paper based application route and it should work out like it has for many of us.

Until U get BOWP, you can work on implied status and your employer shouldn't have an issue with that.

You can apply for travel visa along with bowp as an optional application.

I did get my BOWP without sending AOR along with the BOWP application. I never sent the AOR after getting it as CIC office should have the details in our profile. So they must have checked up my profile to find the AOR and thus approved the BOWP.

I have same visa issue.

Even though my work contract is until beginning of May 215, my work visa is expired at 3rd April. So, I need bridge open work permit to keep working and stay in Canada. I also have applied for PR with CEC last year, December 2014. I haven't get AOR yet. My AOR is expected to reached on 2nd April. Can I apply for BOWP and I would like to know how to apply with paper based. I am looking for it CIC but I haven't yet.

Actually, I applied for my work visa with 6 month which is cover my contract. But immigration officer put my start date of visa one month before I work. So the period of my visa got shorter than the period of my contract. I know that is my fault. I applied it on the internet one month before I work. I should have been to boarder when the date was close to my start working.

Please give me advice. Thanks in advance.
