Applied for PR in april 2020

We have applied for PR in April 2020 under Canadian experience class,. It's been long time still haven't got approval.
Since 7 months they are saying Background check. PO office: Sydney NS.

Other people who applied after us, they got approval.

Does anyone know why they are taking so long?

I'm in the same situation. AOR April 2, 2020, and the last update has been on June 2020. The only answer that I get is: "Due to COVID we are experiencing delays". This is ridiculous.
 
AOR April 14, 2020. Still waiting, my application is stuck at the same stage. There are many people from Feb-Apr 2020 in the same position. All we can do is wait patiently.

I'm in the same boat. Eligibility and criminality passed but security has not started. I hardly believe this though. I think I'm in security screening.
In the end, it's just speculation and there is nothing to be done here other than waiting.
