I applied for an open work permit which I believe I am eligable for 200 days ago and I was forced to leave Canada due to a family emergency. My visa is expired.

Would changing my IRCC address outside of Canada mess anything up?

Going to funeral is not an emergency. It's your choice to stay outside Canada.

You’ll need to update your address if you are outside Canada. No it should not delay processing further.

I assume they ship to out of country address?

Will changing address effect TR to PR application since it was applied for from within Canada? I am a year in and waiting on the background check.

You can request stamping outside of Canada.

Thank you for reply. Can you elaborate? From what I understand you need to be in Canada for them to issue eCOPR. You then apply for a PRTD.

What would the process look like if I changed my address to outside of Canada with no way into Canada?

Going to a funeral is not an emergency. What?
Yes, it's not an emergency. One can decide not to physically attend especially during the first years of covid when flights in some countries banned.. Many people virtually attended them.

Yes but virtually attending a funeral in any other circumstance is not okay. I mean, I can't imagine not leaving my country if my best friend/mom/dad pass away (sadly it will happen one day).

Hence, if the country's borders are open, I would say going to a funeral is not necessarily an emergency per se, but is unavoidable and something you need to do if you are invited/were part of that person's family/close friend circle.

Anyway the OP never mentioned what the emergency was. So not sure why we're talking about this.

Vrtually attending a funeral in any circumstances is okay. Like I said before, many people had to do so during the first years of covid.
