Applied for new passport, will the work permit be valid

Hi,

I put my my passport in the laundry for a couple of minutes and since it suffered a little damage (not anything obvious). The Pakistani consulate is suggesting me to get a new passport made.

If I get my new passport, will my post graduate work permit that was issued on the old passport be still valid?

I called CIC call center and the agent said that my work permit will remain valid. If that is the case when I apply for my PR this year do I include copies of both the passports or just the recent one?

Any one who has experienced such an issue of passport renewal, can you please get back to me.

Could you please share your experience with above matter please? i am going to ask pakistani high commission in toronto to renew my passport (although it is valid for 12 months from now) so that i can apply for my post graduate work permit or pr on new passport in May.
