Hi,
I am lebanese & live in moscow, i had applied for a skilled worker in october 2006 (short pre-application form) and my application is in progress. This year my company offered me a job for 2 years in our toronto office and i am now in the process of getting my work permit (with my family). we are moving there this month. i have few questions:
1) Is there anything i can do to accelerate my application?
2) we also did a medical exam for the whole family, will it count for the permanent residence visa?
3) will the 2 years that i spend there before getting my permanent residence count in anyway??
Somebody told me that i should move my file to Buffalo in the US...
Thx for your advice

My understanding is that it is a totally different process, but might expedite the PR process. Your medical tests will be separate I believe

Not really, but it might accelerate after you have informed your Consular Office about your current work situation in Toronto and new address for the next 2 years. Wait until the process takes its course.

If you did your application on your own, update your Canadian Consular Office about your new address in /when you get to Toronto.

And, don't forget to double check with your last place of residence whether you received any correspondence from the Consular Office while you were in transit, traveling to Toronto.

2) we also did a medical exam for the whole family, will it count for the permanent residence visa?

No, it will not because it would probably have taken more than a year from the time you did the medicals for the work permit to the time CIC would be ready for your PR's medicals. You would likely do the medicals again.

3) will the 2 years that i spend there before getting my permanent residence count in anyway??

The Adaptability situation for those 5 extra points for previous work in Canada should have been determined at the time when you applied.

Somebody told me that i should move my file to Buffalo in the US...

You, as the applicant do not determine that - CIC does. They probably would, after you would have informed them about your new address, and for how long your current work permit would last.

Thx for your advice
