Applications "under processing" for more than 15 months and not finalized

Same here. 16 months and still waiting. My application is transferred to a special unit as they told me. Does anyone has any experience to such thing. Application transferred to a special unit?

I'm just starting my process. Is it normal for applications to take more than 6 months? even years? or is it just specific countries or situations?

It's not normal. We are examptions to the rule. We know that such security screenings are done usually if an applicant or a family member has worked with the military or the police, or if they travelled or moved a lot, sometimes, it seems it's just random... There's no specific country or nation that undergoes these checks.

Immigration replied to my IRCC webform that they have transferred my application to a special unit and their will be an additional delay. The exact reply was as follows on July 19 - 2018:

"
We verified the information provided and can confirm that your application was transferred to a special unit and is still in process.

While this review will result in an additional delay, rest assured that we will make all the necessary efforts to finalize your application as soon as possible.

We will communicate with you once a decision is taken or if additional information is required.
"

If anyone does know something about this, please reply.

What are "Economic Class Units" you are talking about?

I don't mind at all if they visit companies that I worked in. Everything is genuine with my application. But when will they do this is the question.

I think my application is sent to the special unit because I have stayed in Australia for 3 years. Just my guess.

My question is that how much could this take. I know that my application is with the special unit atleast from July 18. How long more could this take? Do you have any idea?

In most cases they ask for redoing meds only when the file is in final stages...hopefully good news on it's way

My AOR is 31 May 2017. I submitted the file on that day. They asked me for remedicals in May 2018. So its been 5 months after that. So it is not necessary that file is in final stage. Their is even no way to find out.

Yes my application is with NDVO since 22nd Sep 2017. In July 2018 they replied to my IRCC webform that my application is transferred to a "Special Unit" and their will be additional delay. And i did my re-medicals in end May 2018 as requested by them. I have this much information.

My file with them since Oct 17, requested rprf and meds in Feb, meds passed in June. Since then no news. No reply to mails either. If they have started SS almost after a year...it's going to be tough...why do they need to wait till the end for SS is something very weird....there are many cases where SS begins immediately after eligibility passed at CIO and meds are requested once SS is completed...how come ndvo is doing it otherwise....

Don't know what they are doing. I think we are the chosen ones to be harassed. Go with the flow. I paid my fees upfront. They are not even rejecting my application. Our future lurks in mid air and no scope of calming our minds because these people don't even reply on our status enquiry.

Just go with the flow, what else can we do?

I don't think I am in security screening...my security changed from not started to blank with only activities which I suppose is for me and my hubby.
I had review required due to meds of my step son which they cleared after almost 15 months and cleared. Post that I am not sure what else could be pending..last notes had eligibility not started...that's all but those notes were from June..i am awaiting gcms again for almost 2 months now..even that is delayed...

I am thinking that special unit would mean security screening, they word it differently otherwise stating your application needs additional verification.

But I would still want to see gcms notes to confirm that.
