Applications processed in Pretoria

Have you received your Notification yet Musimbi? Make sure to check your junk mail folder in your email....how far past the timelime are you? I remember that mine took almost 2 weeks longer than the time they were saying

Yes I did. Thank-you for asking. But there was a complication with my husband's medical. I involved my local MP who contacted the immigration office on my behalf to help sort out the issue. I've been approved as a sponsor and have since received notification that our file has been sent to Pretoria for the second phase of processing. It's been six months since we initially filed...perhaps not that long, but it sure feels like an eternity! Fortunately we spent 6 weeks together this summer, though that, too, now feels like a lifetime ago. I'm so looking forward to this process being over. Here's hoping the next phase will be quick.....I'm not holding my breath, but still hoping.

BTW, this is a fantastic thread and a great place to reduce feelings of isolation in this spouse-sponsoring process. My heart is lightened by knowing that others are sharing the experience and that someone else somewhere in the world understands the roller-coaster ride through Canadian immigration via Pretoria!

That is good to hear that phase 1 is finally over! This process is indeed extremely difficult. Waiting without any contact can be very stressful. They are not as faithful as they could be with updating you on the progress. However, that being said, it is reasonable to expect that your application could be finalized within 6 months if there are no problems with your file. That wasn't my experience but I have seen many processed that quickly. I sincerely hope that this will be true for you.

Hi All!!!

I am just ready to submit our application and it will ultimately go through Pretoria. I am wondering if there are those out there waiting or in the process. I am Canadian and my husband is Malawian. Its been an overwhelming process, but hoping to have everything ready for the 15th. Just a random date, as I am tired of being apart from my hubby!! Would love to hear how things are progressing in Pretoria these days! Good luck to all!

Hi Ms Malawi,
I am Canadian, my husband is Zambian. We're awaiting approval from Pretoria. We filed our application in April and I received approval to sponsor him in early September. We're in the second phase now and are anxiously waiting to receive word from Pretoria that my husband has been approved. I'm hoping that since things are quiet here, that means there are fewer applications being processed and ours will be done very soon! (Wishful thinking, I know).

Best of luck to you. The process is overwelming, though I've found the waiting to be the hardest part.

But good thing that Malawi and Zambia are beautiful places to pass the time waiting! Gotta be some positives in all this!

Make sure all your documents are there. The number one reason it takes longer is if they need to ask you for additional docs. They're also bad at communicating with u so be patient!!

Its really quiet here on the Pretoria thread.. are there any other threads for those of us going through Pretoria that are up to date? Or is the number just that small on here???

I have joined the waiting game and have enjoyed following the thread to see how Pretoria has been going at least throughout the summer.

I think there are just few people on this particular thread/forum! Seems the processing time has gone up since we applied, when it was 18 months....they must be short staffed down in pretoria! good luck with your process, always post on here and those of us who've gone through it all are here to help! =)

I wanted to share some good news. My husband received an email this morning stating Pretoria is ready to issue his visa and instructions to send his passport. We submitted to Mississauga office on Sept 12, 2012 and the file was transferred to Pretoria on Dec 03,2012. It took us 6 months to collect and complete the paperwork needed for the application but it only took CIC less than three months to approve the visa.

Anyways the process went inexplicably fast and we are over the moon. We might be reunited in time for Christmas, if not then, definitely New Years.

This forum was a lot of help. Although I didn't post much, I definitely read through the thread a billion times. Can someone tell me how to add my timeline under my name on the left side. the Category, Visa Office, App filed, etc...
