From what I saw in this forum, most people from the pretoria office did not go through an interview. Let's hope that will also be the case for you. God will assiist us.
My husband lives in SA and live in Canada. It is so hard to be apart. I visited him in SA at the beginning of the year for 6 weeks, but it went so fast and felt like a few days. In which city do you reside?

I could only imagine how it feels to be so far away from your husband. I will pray for you so that anything concerning your visa would be resolved quickly and your husband will have it in his hand. I live in Johannesburg, where does your husband live?

Burban, that's a city I did not get a chance to visit yet. It most be hard for you too to be away from your family.
I personally don't know of a person who went for an interview. I also hope your interview is waived.

Finding a cheap voip phone app has helped with our phone bills though.

So what is everyone using for longdistance phone method? Phone card,skype,etc.

Im using skype along with NoFee or Kitten phone cards...I usually buy them at ontariophonecards. ca ... what voip app are you using? even with the phonecards Im still speading about $300 a month on phonecards....

Ive tested tons of phone cards...most are ripoffs. The 7-11 branded cards were good 3 years ago but trippled in price. The best card i found is called "Goodcall" from 7-11.
Goodcall is about 8 cents a minute to a mobile in south africa. To a mobile phone most cards are way higher.
But...I just got an android phone and got the voip app from rynga dot com. Its .035 euro cents a minute to a mobile and you can recharge with paypal or credit card. Some calls to landlines in SA are free..within fair use they say. Great sound.
You can print out call logs with it. I wish i had it sooner because most of our phone evidence to cic was phone cards which they dont really consider evidence...but its what we had.

We cant use skype cause she doesnt have fast internet.

I no longer use creadit cards because they are not the best deal. I have a home phone with vonage which allow me to make unlimited (in reality you can use a max. of 3000min in outgoing call) calls to landlines in ay countries ad South Africa included. Because ispeak to my sband on a daily basis, 3000mins a month ar not enough. I also use dialnow.com. It is pretty good as they are cal logs as well. It cost 2 euro cent per minute to call a landline and 9 euro cents per minutes for cellphone. Myhusband does not have internet at home, so we don't use skype very often.

I also visited once for 2 months as well. I am always so excited about going to visit my husband, but leaving is always the hardest part.
I am going to try Rynga, it seems cheaper than dialnow.com. Making long distnc calls can be very pricy

Yes, vonage give you 3000 min per month to call South Africa. For mobile, it is not included. You are going to pay extra to call mobile. With vonage I pay 29.99 + tax. I got the vonage phone to exclusivelyto call my husband. At first, my husband only had a cllphone,by he had to get a landline to make it cheaper to communicate.
Before vonage, I use to spend about 300$ on long distance calls. Now, I spend less...

Leaving is the worst. The long flight just amplifies how apart we are.
Keep in mind though rynga is euro cents...a bit more for canadian cents.

She wont use it other than to answer calls.from me..and from what i understand it accepts calls for free..no monthly charge or landline charge

Iink even though Rynga is in euro it is still much better than the calling cards.
I fly from Toronto to Amsterdam (6.5 to 7 hrs), then from Amsterdam to Cape Town (11hrs). the stop over is only about 2 or 3 hrs. Not bad.
The flight is very long indeed. I always cry at the airport on my way back to Canada. I just can't help it. LOL...

that is a very good idea. you can speak to her more and finacilally it is not going to cost you as much.
