By the way guys,

Regarding the phone numbers posted in the previous page, i called both of them with no cooperation at all from their side.

One of them is CIC call center from within canada, i noticed from the guy who answered my call that he is able to check whether Buffalo has received the medical results for an applicant by checking the client ID number, but he refused to give me any information saying that i have to check with the visa office not them.

The other number which belongs to Ottawa (the medical center for CIC), the lady refused to check on their system to see whether the results were sent to Buffalo or not, and she gave me the same answer "check with your visa office", from 1 to 3 months.

We have a deadline by the visa office, and the time matter is very critical, and they are taking more time than they need or even than it realy deserves, to send the results, and even lazy to check on their system whether they have sent it or not !

Do not hold that hope on those numbers, lucky applicants who could get the information from them before they take this new attitude of not giving any information.

Haha, yes actually it is a very small country, we are only 4 million population.

By the way, Mark,

I was thinking about the background checks matter, many people think that if you have lived in many countries, the background check will take longer.

It might be right, but i was thinking that when someone is living in only one country, and he knows some people who have a power in that country, it will be very easy for him to hide many information (if there is any) related to criminal records and that stuff (by erasing them from the system), but if he has been living in many different countries and provided police clearance from each one of them, it will be impossible that he knows powerful people in each one of them who help him in hiding some criminal records from the system.

As a result, he will have more than one witness (more than one country) by providing police clearance from each of them. So why cannot we think that the person who has been living in one country only, needs more background check than the one who has lived in many different countries and provided clearance from each of them !

That was just a personal thought.
Well, under normal circumstances, if you have lived in many countries, CIC conducts its own b/g check in those countries. If you have lived in one country, they have to deal with one country's intelligence report. If multiple, you never know how much time each country takes to respond to CIC's b/g check request. Chances are it can delay your processing. Again, just my personal feeling.

Guys, it seems everyone's application is moving and still everyone is frustrated. I was just wondering what sort of feeling I should have for my case - should I be sad, stressed, tense, frustrated or just inert? I am stuck at "Received by Visa Office" at Buffalo for close to 4 months now.

All of you guys - professional1, rahmanrahat, honolulu, beauhoe, MarkCan who are at some processing stages - can you share when your journey started. I just want to determine, am I a one-off? I know the timelines of Pasi and that has been very fast, so a one-off. But, am I the one-off from the other perspective? Does anyone know that whether second time applicants face typical extra delays or is that too much thinking?

Hi garian4u,

My case was not that fast, i was stuck with the e-case "Received by the visa office" for 7 months from the date of receipt of my application at Buffalo, and next week is going to count one year exactly since i sent my application to the CIO Nova Scotia.

Actually the fastest case i have ever seen in "Buffalo" is Pasi's case (wish him the best of luck), so do not worry you are still in the normal time frame with Buffalo.

Wish you the best of luck.

By the way guys "Buffalo applicants", do not expect to see any changes in the e-case or receive any emails from Buffalo this monday "May 31, 2010" because Buffalo will be closed for the Memorial Day (US).

First off, let me tell you that I fully understand what you are going through. If it reassures you, we all are going through the same phase, albeit with varying degrees of frustration. I have looked at your timelines and rest assured, your processing is going through "normally". Once Buffalo acknowledges your application, you should expect that it will take them upto 12 months or more to start processing your case (e-cas changes to "In Process")

Having said that, you should also realize that every case is different. Some of the very important ingredients of a "strong case" would be the following:

1. Application sent with all the documentation and done EXACTLY the same way as wanted by CIC
2. Absolutely hassle-free background & track record
3. Job code under which applied (some job codes are given preference to others)
4. # of countries in which you have lived and worked (the more the #, the more the chances are your security and b/g checks will take time)
5. If applying with a job in hand in Canada or not (those with job offers or living or working or studying in Canada get usually processed faster than U.S. applicants)
6. If applying as SINGLE or MARRIED (couples could take a little longer since documentation is more and checks may take more time)

Ask yourself questions based on these factors. If you think you have aced all these points, then your application should process faster than the normal timeframe. If NOT, then be prepared to wait till CIC satisfies itself fully that you are fully eligible to enter Canada. If some cases are moving faster than yours, it is most likely because of the above-mentioned factors. Hope this helps. Cheers.

We are all on a roller coaster ride. There are quite a few unknowns in this journey. I cannot tell you much in terms of factual detail. But I do want to say that it is a good thing that we are together and can share a collective knowledge base.
Hang in there buddy. Time is the greatest (and best) healer and we are all with you as you stride!!

Actually i was thinking about this point deeply, it came to my mind that married people will have double the procedure than singles, for example, the background and security check will be for 2 persons not only one.

Hmmm....Thanks all for the insight and support. I did apply as "Married", so I can't say that I aced all points. From the perspective of number of countries lived only 2 - India (home country) and US - current country of residence. No job offer, not currently living or studying in Canada. But, I have seen cases with all the same factors processing much before me, that is the point of frustration. But, I guess it is what it is....can't do anything. Will just have to bide my time
