Good to know it is finally resolved. By the way, congratulations on crossing one more obstacle. Cheers.

Thanks Mark. Just took an appointment with the doctor for the medicals. The guy is like 100 miles away from us and is going to cost us a whooping $ 940 for the medicals for 3 of us!

Good luck with your application!

Give it at least 12 months from the time they acknowledge receiving your application. After 12 months, it usually changes to "In Process". Then it takes another 3-4 months at least before they send you the medical notice (provided no further documentation is required)

Hi Mark,
As per your suggestion, it usually takes 3-4 months to get to another step since you get "in process." However, my case is that I got "in process" immidiately after I received my file number by Buffalo's email. My question is whether the "in process" is sames as "materials received" and therefore I have to wait about 15 (12+3) months to get the medical request? Thank you!

That's pretty fast. Seems like Buffalo is finally setting it's house in order.

That's amazing Pasi !!! I know of a July 2009 applicant who hasn't heard anything yet from Buffalo. Congrats. Let us know when the status changes to "In Process"

You need an original letter from your bank stating the amount of funds you have in your account.

Irrespective of what your e-cas shows, the "general" wait time for Buffalo applicants is as follows:

1. Takes 12 months from the time Buffalo acknowledges the receipt of application and documents to start processing.

2. Once your application is reviewed and found worthy of processing, it takes 3-4 months to get the medical request (sometime longer)

You gotta remember, there are always exceptions to these timelines. What I am mentioning here are average timelines. Some people take more time, some less (give and take).

thank u markan

Also, when i applied last year-i submitted bank certificates from home country and with same currency.I submitted CA report with that,in which he had written the equivalent Canadian dollar to that money. This time,i don't want to waste money on CA,I have with me new certificates-but again currency written on them is of my home country. Can I write on my own or my bank in Canada can help me in that case or not.
As long as there is an original letter from the bank stating the value of your funds and also the same is in CAD equivalent (Canadian Dollars), it is all good.

Well, let us look at the brighter side. I know of some applicants who have spent around $450 per person to get the medicals done (around DC area). So, 940 for 3 ain't too bad, pal. Cheers.

Hi

I was wondering if we have the choice to select the interview date, if we are called for an interview. Or the visa office selects the interview date??

Hi guys, do you know why some apps stay in Buffalo while others get transferred to the other visa offices? Many say it's not good to stay in Buffalo even if your case is progressing because there's often a long delay even after sending medicals. Which of the five visa offices is the fastest? Can you list them in the order of processing speed? Detroit, New York, LA, Seattle, Buffalo?

Detroit seems to be moving pretty quick. Dont know about other consulates. I got my medicals after adding my spouse and child to my application rather quickly. They also respond to case specific enquiries within hours of sending them a query.
