Sorry, but in my opinion choosing who to allow into your country by pure lottery doesn't sound like a very good idea.
Are there any criteria at all? Language? Work experience? Qualifications?

Almost same like Canada, but the results between applicants, this is the random Lottery but you still need to have minimum requirments

Successful DV entrants must be eligible to receive a visa by qualifying based on education, work, and other requirements. The law and regulations require that every DV entrant must have at least:

A high school education or its equivalent; or
Two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years' training or experience.

No language assessment but an Interview will be there, Medical Exam , Proof of funds ,civil and education documents
The non qualifying countries , some not qualifying for the number of immigrants that are already there or for security/political reasons

Hey Architect_100.....Just want to know is there really a USA Lottery Diversity visa because I got the same mail that I have been selected for Diversity visa and they were asking me to deposit the visa fee but because I thought may be its a fake e-mail that is why i did not take it seriously....My sister in law, who live in USA and she asked her lawyer and he said its very very old method no longer exist......can U please clear.....more onto it.

The authorities do in fact say that in addition to entrants being able to check on whether they won on the DV lottery website, they will inform you if you are selected by only postal mail and never by email. The emails are fraudulent. So beware. Also, eligibility to apply is based on the country where you were born and not nationality

The diversity lottery still exists. Please don't deposit any money to anybody. You only pay a visa fee after interview at the US embassy,

Anybody asking for money is a fraud.

Hi Everyone !!!!!

Its been a while now that my status on ecas is "RBVO"....address went missing a few days back...nothing else seems to be happening...I had a question....

I had sent my fingerprints for FBI clearance and have got them back....but it says that the letter is valid till mid Sep 2011....my question is...if I still havent received PCC request...what should I do...especially if the letter expires...cos its quite a hassle getting the fingerprints done and getting the results back....

Any suggestions on what to do....or should I just wait.....ahhhhhhh.....i hate this waiting game....first "WAIT" for the PER...then wait for your status to change and wait wait wait..........well...I really hope it's all worth it !!!!

Yes Ritu (CHHOTTI) it still exists. I had actually applied this time around, but didnt get selected. The emails that you get which ask you to pay a fee are all fake. Beware of such scam! The lottery program is for free for people of specific countries. Usually the application period opens up somewhere in October every year until November. You can register yourself online for Free during this time before the deadline. Visit www.dvlottery.state.gov/ to get more info. The other websites that you will find online are all through agents (which are not required!), the ones that ask you to pay and register yourself are all Third-party companies trying to make money off of us. If interested, visit the official website listed above and get more info.

No postal notification this year.

You can only check online. If you receive a letter, ignore it.

Anyone having any issue in accessing to E-cas today? i cannot get into the system with either of file number (provided by CIO and CHC) i have. It says they cannot find my data...
