When are we likely to get contacted by the VOs...its been more than 3 weeks since I received file #? Also what are they likely to mail an applicant, is that a check-list stating the docs needed further or somethig more?

Many thanks forumers :)
Well Rohan, the truth is nobody knows. The first PER on this forum was on 23rd of November and they have not heard anything from their VO yet.

If you look at the May 2010 applicants (Pre June 26 system), most of them are getting their second AOR's around now. So if we extrapolate this timeline, then i will speculate my 2 cents that the people who got their AOR's in November will hear someting from their respective VO's by end of this month.
Remember, our extrapolation for first PER/AOR was incorrect. We had speculated it to be out by end sept/ early october. It came at end of November.
Cheers

There are a handful of people who have applied with AEO, and the process looks like almost the same for FSW1 and FSW2. The time-lines are not significantly different.

Please have a look at the below spreadsheet for details.

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.
Immigration process will definitely shorter with AEO , Last year it was less than 6 months for most of the Newdelhi AEO applicants. But i feel that one should provide proper documentation with supporting letter from employer ,Job details and Letter stating that how you fit for that job.
Your qualification and the requirement for the job matters.

Please I need some advice here.

1. My company has just been bought over by another company. So the comapny name has slightly changed. The postal address is still the same and everyone is still using the same desks and titles. The website and email contacts are due to change very soon. The phone numbers may change as well (not very sure). I am waiting for my PER. Who do I contact about this - CIO or VO?

2. I spoke with HR department in my former employment over the phone yesterday. I asked if any enquiry has been made about me by CIC/CIO and they said no. I pleaded with them to assist should there be any call or email from CIO. A manager from the HR then told me that they cannot give details of my employment with them over the phone to anybody/organisation. He said they can only confirm my job titles and period of employment. Concerning job duties, he said that they only confirm if request is by post or email and not phone.
This employment is very important because that is what I am claiming points from. The company is in Africa and I am presently living in the UK.

Please does anybody know how CIO/VO verify emplyment details?

Thank you
Shalom

The only place I can see AEO possibly being shorter is during the eligibility review. Once an applicant has had a positive final eligiblity review the process of security/background checks and issuing of medicals will not be influenced by whether it's FSW1 or FSW2. And by "shorter" we are probably talking about the different of 40 minutes versus 20 minutes during an eligibility review, not days and weeks! ;)

Once at visa office I think the only influencial factors will be complexity of checks - i.e. if the applicant has lived in more than one country, or has held official government positions etc - then this will increase the length of time the security/background checks will take.

Comparisons with pre-June-26 is pretty futile IMO since they have a completely different process to us. They have a 120-day phase in which to produce their documentation and then the visa office must complete a final eligibility review and also calculate sufficient points for selection and admissability.

Our applications are already past this stage once they arrive.

IMO all applications which are "straight forward", regardless of whether they are FSW1 or FSw2, will see approximately the same length of time at visa office. Of course, some visa offices will be faster than others depending on workloads.

My 2 cents,
Wayne.

Hi Shalom,

1) The same thing has happened to me. My company has been taken over, ironically, by a French-Canadian broadcasting company. I am sat at the same desk doing the same job for the same salary, but the company name has changed.

We simply sent a case specific online query to the visa office informing them of this, and of the HR woman's new email address (her phone number remains unaltered). We got a reply back saying they had noted the comments and updated the file, and that an immigration officer would review it.

I am the spouse, not the principal applicant, so I doubt they are particularly bothered but just in case they run a verficiation of employment check they have all the new details.

2) Verification of employment is not always done. It is done in a minority of cases, rather than a majority. CIC operation manual I think says that it will only be done if there is cause to suspect they are being misled, and also spot checks to act as a deterrent. I would estimate they only run a verification of employment on 5% to 10% of the applications.

If CIC are unable to contact by telephone they will contact in writing or by email. MOST companies would probably ask for a request in writing anyway since they are disclosing confidential information about you, and would not do this by telephone. Therefore I am sure CHC are used to having to submit requests in writing in they are unable to get the information by telephone.

So my advice would be to wait until you get your PER with file number, then send the visa office an online case specific query just informing them of the change and asking if they require any further documentation of information. If your duties have not changed then I cannot see they will want to do anything other then make a note on the file.

Regarding verification of employment I would just sit and wait. Chances are they won't verify your employment and even if they do they will contact you if they hit a problem IMO.

Best wishes,
Wayne.

I totally agree with wayne. However, i would like to add some points:
- Verification is done by VO not CIO
-Verification is mostly done by phone call, site visit is very rare.
-Case officers of VO usually contact local canadian embassy and personel of local canadian embassy usually make the phone call/site visit. So all these enquiry will all be done in your native language.

Dr.Hasib

Back to the issue of people finding "Medicals Received by Visa Office" after "In Process" - I had an aha! moment and wondered if it will eventually read:
"In Process on 23 November 2010"
"Medicals Received by Visa Office on 13 May 2011"

Maybe, when the Medical Request is sent there will be some other presumptive caption waiting for a date to complete it. Just a thought...

Ok I think you may have slightly misunderstood my post.

Firstly CIC = Citizenship and Immigration Canada = applicable to both CIO (Centralized Intake Office) and visa office/CHC (Canadian High Commission). All are still CIC.

When I said CIC I of course meant the visa office/CHC - not CIO.

I do not suggest for a moment that CHC (I'll say CHC rather than CIC to avoid confusion:)) will perform site visits but if they are unable to contact a reference by telephone (some company policies do not ALLOW personnel details to be given over the phone) they may contact the employers in writing (either by email or by post).

I am sorry if I was unclear.

Wayne.

I am just hoping an email enquiry at worst. IMO site visit will be out of it.
