Hi Khai

See that you had mentioned that the email received was a “forwarded email”; which I suppose was from your consultant. Could you let us know the date mentioned in the email from CIO?

While we can only speculate on how the second review was initiated – whether from a stockpile of applications already with PER, or was retrieved from the VO, or from information in a database which they have already input the data on the type of IELTS submitted – that bit of information would give us some sort of marker on the worse come scenario of how it had occurred. Of course, I am hoping, even though I find it quite odd not to accept the tougher Academic IELTS, that it was initiated through the information from their database.

Cheers, & all the best!

Hi Mani5553

Certainly hope that the email you had received was following the receipt of a PER which you had missed. The time-lines, when compared against the Google spreadsheet, I would agree is quite fast. But there have been exceptions like in the case of wakawaka, and chinsan. Would nevertheless suggest that you pursue with asking for the original email sent, to confirm this.

The following 2 statements made in their letter somehow begs more questions.

The CIO recommended your application for further assessment at a visa office and sent you a letter requesting that you submit a complete application package to this office. We have now received your submission.
Unless your PER have a different content, that sentence is not typical of the ones sent to others.

Before your application can be placed in processing, our office will make a final determination as to whether or not you are eligible for processing. If your application is not eligible for processing, you will receive a letter informing you of the reasons for the determination as well as a refund.
This also suggest a refund is possible, which I believe is not the case if PER has been issued.

Best wishes.

i think i know why CIO has stopped sending PER's the past week.

I received a forwarded email from CIO today stating that i need to pass a General Training test report of my IELTS. Here's the content of the letter:

This refers to your application for permanent residence to Canada which was received at this office on AUG 18 2010. On DEC 08 2010, correspondence was sent to you via E-MAIL to inform you that your application had received a positive final determination of eligibility for processing, and was being forwarded to the visa office for further processing. This is to inform you that your application has not been forwarded to the visa office, and is being held at CIO Sydney, pending the receipt of additional required information as outlined below.

At the initial assessment of your application, we have determined that you have included an Academic IELTS test result with your application. However, only the General Training IELTS test results are acceptable for immigration to Canada. For additional information, please check our website at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

In order to continue the assessment of your applications, you must submit the following document:

IELTS test original results – GENERAL TRAINING option (not Academic option)

You have 120 days from the date of this letter to submit an original “General Training” IELTS test result. Your application will be assessed based on the information submitted.

Failure to submit the General Training IELTS test result within the next 120 days may result in your application being refused.
Please send a copy of this letter with the General language test result, to:

I really can't describe how frustrated i am at the moment..nonetheless, i'll work this out..
I was hybernating in posting and was just browsing until I saw this. I was so shocked coz I knew you had your PER already, I know your frustrated and probably having some mixed emotions. Unlike in our case when we received this, was more of a positive thing. Last year I asked my consultant if I will take the GT in case my papers are returned because of IELTS, and they told me to just wait. If I just followed the advise of one of the member here to book a GT exam last year then I would just be sitting now and wait for my PER again. Anyway, its not yet over, were still in the race and was put on PIT STOP. I think the feb 12 and 17 dates are still open, so book right away. BTW, may I ask if we could request the CIO to send back our original academic IELTS?

Goodluck khai.

Dear all
I have been silent watcher of this forum. In the mean I got ready with my application and I sent courier to CIO on 19th Jan 2011.I had opted creditcard as my mode of payment. Unfortunately my purse got stolen on 22nd Jan which had my credit card so my card was blocked immediately which means when CIO will send it for payment it will not be cashed.
Meanwhile I filled another payment form and sent with my other credit card details today and posted it to the same address at which i had sent my application. So hopefully 2nd payment form will reach more or less at a difference of 4 days.
How u seniors forsee in this case. Will CIO be able to connect it to my application
I am very curious what will happen.

after reading the case of Khai, i feel that all this are discouragement of all we applicants.it seems that they start checking doc after 4 months and sending mail so late.disappointinmetinggggggggg.

Mani, as per my understanding after reading the letter you were not yet issued a PER. In your case VO will have final word on eligibility.
That means the VO will re-do the eligibility review from scratch, regardless of CIO decision. It's not mentioned in any CIC document that the VO will escape the eligibility review if done by CIO!

The real processing and waiting time will start with VO processing, all people that are waiting for the PER are still bellow ground zero.

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.

Your application as a Federal Skilled Worker, which was initially submitted to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The CIO recommended your application for further assessment at a visa office and sent you a letter requesting that you submit a complete application package to this office. We have now received your submission.

Our office has created a file for you with the file number: E00000xxxx. Please note that this file number is different than the one that was assigned to you by the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. You must quote this file number in any future correspondence with our office.

Before your application can be placed in processing, our office will make a final determination as to whether or not you are eligible for processing. If your application is not eligible for processing, you will receive a letter informing you of the reasons for the determination as well as a refund.

If your application is determined to be eligible for processing, processing will begin on a priority basis.
Applications in the Federal Skilled Worker category require an average of 8 months to process at this office.

Once your application has been assessed, you will receive further instructions from this office. Please do not contact this office to request a status update unless 8 months have passed since you submitted your complete application.

Interview
If an interview is required, you will be notified of the appointment for your interview, if required, approximately 2 months prior to the date of the interview, and you will be provided with further instructions at that time.

Non-resident applications
If you or any of your accompanying family members are not normally resident in the area of responsibility of this office, then you should be aware that there may be additional delay in the processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada. This delay will result from the need to refer your case to the Canadian Immigration office which is responsible for the country in which you or your family members normally reside. This referral is necessary to verify any information that you have provided with your application, or for advice concerning qualifications or other matters of a local concern that should be taken into account when assessing your application.

Let us know
If there is a change in your personal circumstances, such as the birth of a child, a marriage or divorce, you have to let us know (see address, fax number and email address below).
You must also inform us of a:
• Change of address, including change of e-mail address;
• Change of immigration representative;
• Request for withdrawal of your application.

I have been checking my inbox regularly, but haven't not been able to trace any email from CIO. I guess the email got directed to junk mail folder and got automatically deleted after a week (I have a rediffmail email account). I have gone through some posts in this forum and found that the CIO PER email could land into junk mail folder. I am not sure if I actually received the PER email but going by the above email from the Immigration Section, New Delhi, I guess I received the email from CIO and it went to junk folder, which later got deleted automtically ???

How can I retreive that email ?? Would the CIO entertain my request of resending my PER email??
Please advise ???
Congratulation, the good information in this email is the average processing time which is 8 months. I think it's one of the shortest in the world.

This is a new developpement. I think all the persons who received the PER with an academic IELTS, should book a genarel one, especially if their application has actually been transfered to the VO (To avoid any risk of delay if the VO asks about this).

Thanks from the bottom of my heart to those who have given me their kind words of encouragement while I waited all alone here without my husband. I am so grateful to you for helping me through a sad and stressful time. You are all truly compassionate and fine people who Canada would be lucky to receive as residents.
To Rina, especially, I send my best hopes to you for some good news after this long wait.
To everyone else who is waiting and hoping, don't lose faith, even if the tracker seems to have passed you by.
To CanadaJimmy, don't get my husband too drunk when you go out for that celebration! :p
