Hello,
I would really appreciate any feedback on my situation. I graduated from a Canadian university and have one year of full time work experience after graduation on a post graduate work permit. My FSW2 application is taking forever and my work permit is expiring soon. I have applied for a study permit and plan to do a graduate certificate in the meantime. Can I apply to CEC if my current status is student and not worker as long as I have completed the requirements (graduation + 1 year full time work ) ? Please advise.
Hi Mahek,
I am sure you have gone through the CIC requirement for CEC : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp
Just for analysis I am taking out a portion of it:
You must meet these minimum requirements to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class. You must:
plan to live outside the province of Quebec-
Yes, you do.
be either:
a temporary foreign worker with at least two years of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada, or
N/A
a foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada
have gained your experience in Canada with the proper work or study authorization
Yes, you have....1 yr full time What you need to know if the Job was in the skilled category of O,A or B
apply while working in Canada – or – within one year of leaving your job in Canada
You are going to apply within one year of leaving your job
include the results of an independent language test (from an agency designated by CIC) with your application
Yes, assuming you have
According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), skilled work experience means:
Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or
Skill Level A (professional occupations) or
Skill Level B (technical occupations and skilled trades)
Your current status of "student" will not prevent you from applying for CEC. Just check if the Job you performed was a skill of O,A or B.
Hope this helped.
