Finally... aah...Today morning,I have received my daughter's passport from passport office, will be sending same to CHC right away... as today is last day to submit the documents... though I have requested CHC for extension at the time of submitting RPRF and our passports (PA,Spouse)... Still, will try to deliver her passport today itself. Spoke to courier personal, requested him for express delivery, he is ensuring that the passport will be deliver today before closure of CHC office.

Must be a security guard who signed for the package or someone at the receiving gate. Mine had some obscure, funny name. Dont worry about it as long as you got an acknowledgment that they received your documents and you have your PER.

I am a professional in Passport issues(since I got five of them).

Now if I remember last time when I visited the passport office (you cannot renew your passport 3 months before they are to expire, not sure if the same rule is still there).

When I went to change the Surname in passport for my wife (they stamped on the older passport and did not issue a new one, not sure if the same goes now).

So first call passport office to know whether a new passport can be issued or not?

You can renew your passport anytime within 12 months of expiry date for a 10 year valid passport. Marriage information used to get added/stamped if the passport still has validity, but after the many issues that cropped up with illegal smuggling of women as someones wife, the Passport office now issues fresh passports with the name changed (provided the applicant wants to change it) and/or spouse information in the last page along with parents names. Thats what I got from the RPO in Bangalore and Chennai.

Fresh passports are most definitely issued with the spouse name on the last page.

My RPRF DD was issued by ICICI Bank, Bangalore, it is not big deal for the bank to tell you the status of the DD, all they have to do is to put your DD # in there database and Vola the status is displayed..
