Hi Anil,

Actually, I re-read USPS money order, for Canada they are issuing only USD money orders :( - and 99% of the time USD/CAD does not matter at all. I just do not want to run the risk of app getting returned just because of this.

Using 'CC' - after what happened to another poster (Maani?) I am really wary of using cc. Call me risk-averse :) ?

Another question on Schedule-1, for question #10 'type of certificate' - what have you indicated for XII - "Higher Secondary Course certificate"?

Thanks again for your help.
I've heard of quite a few cases where people have had problems with credit cards. Even if you fill in all the details perfectly it is very difficult to guarantee that the bank's automatic anti-fraud software won't step in and block the transaction.

I would always advise banker's draft if at all possible. It may be harder to ascertain when it's been cashed but at least you know it will clear since banker's draft = guaranteed cleared funds.

Wayne.

- DONT USE THE MODE YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT <- Ground Rule :)

CC is good to go here. Follow the CIC checklists, fill the "Fee Payment Form", write Credit Card Details & Sign it. When you continue reading the CIC checklists, at step-11 // Attach a photocopy of your credit card. Few people tried to provide the CVV or CVV2 number as well, however it is not required (never asked). So you can strike out that part.

Another question on Schedule-1, for question #10 'type of certificate' - what have you indicated for XII - "Higher Secondary Course certificate"?

For me I wrote "A.I.S.S.C.E." - from CBSE Board exam in India. The name of the certificate was mentioned this, so I wrote this.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks Anil for the inputs.

Wayne,
I agree, I am setting aside credit as the last option possible. I just hung up after talking to Citibank, and they do NOT issue BD/certified check in CAD :( - next up is wells fargo, but am not a member.

Thanks again Anil, for clarifying the set of documents. Regarding notarization, the VO checklist (Buffalo in my case - E37048) clearly states the following

"Gather documents as listed. Check () each item on the checklist and attach the checklist to your photocopied documents (a paper clip will do). Place all documents in a sealed envelope. Do not send originals unless otherwise stated. If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation with a copy of the originals."

Since passport copies are all in English, and pretty much every other document like Birth certificate, Marriage certificate is in English, I was planning on NOT notarizing anything unless it meets the condition above. Am I misinterpreting the directions? Guidance is greatly appreciated.
Harvin, my strong advise is to notirize all copies of documents if they are not original (like reference letter and bank letters). They mean if you need to do a translation, it should be made by proffessional agency that have their stamp that is equivalent to notarizing.

As you can make a fraud on copy. Notary is just saying the copy is true and corresponding to original (even if it is english as most passports). Do not risk!!!!

Hi Anil,
Thanks for the clarification. I am in USA.

Regarding money order, I am trying to talk to Citibank and see how I can get cashier's check, this is turning out to be a bigger pain than anticipated. In US money orders are slightly different, they are almost like Demand Draft equivalent. Am I right in assuming that sending a USD550 certified check will cause my application to be rejected?

I see in some forums they have rejected, some have been accepted, but in most cases it was pre-jun-26, when the visa office was Buffalo, New York, and hence they would have had no problems in cashing a USD certified check. With CIO, and them saying Canadian funds, it is tricky!

Going crazy here with all last minute arrangements, hope to send out all the docs by wednesday/thursday.

Thanks

Thanks Avi_15, how did you handle your photocopies of documents like birth/marriage etc certificates? 'true-copy' by notary or plain simple photocopies?

The problem as I see it, is that the "application limit" may well have already been crossed. However, CIC have no way of telling this until they have completed the eligibility reviews on at least 20,000 post June 26 applications, and all the evidence currently suggests they have yet to start them.

So by the time CIC deems 20,000 eligible for processing, they could well have actually received many more applications that this (30,000 or 40,000 etc).

Wayne.
Hi Cappuccino:

Many things make no sense to me. First, Why are they cashing some CCs and BDs right now and not cashing others?

Furthermore, why would they cash so many application fees now and go to 30,000 or 40,000 etc, and then have to return the ones over the cap. Remember it won't be easy with those who submitted BDs, applicants will not be able to cash the Canadian refund check easily in some countries...

Why add the extra work of cashing, so that later you have to refund 10,000 applicants or more!! How many man hours are wasted sending out 10,000 refunds? Wouldn't it make sense to cash only when eligibility has already taken place?

Hi Cam1234,

The answer is so simple :)
Encashing means liquid money (huge amount, millions) in CIC bank account which gain daily significant interest = employees salaries + great profit ;)

My application was received by CIO last september8 and included in that package is my academic IELTS(with my fingers crossed everyday not to see my package returned). Actually, I had a discussion with my consultant and they said that I can use that also. But I am not recommending that if you still have time to take a GT exam now, but the problem is cap would "probably" be filled up by november (But of course nobody knows this for sure). In short its upto you to take the risk. If you can sit in an exam within the month then thats better.

I would like to ask how long will it take them to return your package?
