That worked!
I used 'United Kingdom and Colonies' as my place of birth and it worked. I was actually born in the Republic of Ireland which is not part of the UK nor is it a colony of the UK and my application definitely reflected that. So this is a mistake by the CIC official who entered the data.
I'm not at all offended by this, in fact I lived in the UK for 5 years and loved it there, but I'm concerned that my country of birth is incorrect on ecas. I wonder should I notify them of this error?
Anyway, please update my record on the spreadsheet to reflect my ecas status as: 'In Process'
The description text reads as follows:
"We received your application for permanent residence on November 19, 2010.
Medical results have been received.
We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on February 25, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

Thanks spokes! My ECAS status has NOT changed at all since i got my PER on Feb 09. It still says "CIO ER complete". Never have i seen "Received by VO" despite the fact that i have gotten my 2nd AOR. The system is not very accurate, hope they fix this soon.

I actually disagree. I don't believe it's a question of priority. I think VO's are told they have to process all >Feb 2008 applications (>J26 and <J26) in the other they arrive at the visa office.

The speed difference is that >J26 go straight to background/security/medicals stage. <J26 have to go through eligibility review and selection/admissability.

I think <J26 applications which are already at the background/security/medicals stage will get processed before >J26 which have just arrived. The difference we see at visa offices IMO is how many <J26 were already in at background/security/medicals stage.

Big offices like London and Buffalo probably already had hundreds (maybe thousands) of applications already at that stage, and they will all have to be processed before they are allowed to start on the >J26 applications.

Obviously a >J26 application will get processed much faster than a <J26 application when merely taking the time they arrive at visa office, since <J26 has a lot more work to be done on it.

Think about it - 90% to 95% of the visas which London has to issue are Federal Skilled Worker. If >J26 were getting "priority", would we really have been 3+ months since the first applications arrived there and still not a single 2nd AOR yet?

From the 2nd AOR letters flying about, I would think that one had to do with the other! I mean, isn’t background/security an admissibility criteria?

Hi - yes it is. However, at least from what we can gather - counting how many points you have earnt and ensuring you have at least 67 is part of the selection/admissability which CIO perform (we know this because people have been rejected, after encashment, at CIO for insufficient points).

Background/security + medicals check is the part of selection/admissability which the visa office performs.

Perhaps we should label CIO's role in selection/admissability as "points tot-up" to avoid confusion?

Actually I think that you do not need to tell them.

You need to fill in a travels form when you apply if your visa office requires it, and then on PER it says you need to inform your visa office of important changes but this is for things like birth of a child, change of address or change in employment circumstances.

Personally I don't think they will want to know about a holiday you embark on after you've applied.

However, I guess they could bring it up when they get your passports and they see another country stamped in there - so if you want to be extra safe simply send them a case-specific query notifying them of the dates you'll be out of the country and which country/countries you're visting.
