My Canadian wife is sponsoring me. We live together at the same address in Canada. Our application was returned for problems with the use of representative form (imm 5476). We consulted a lawyer for advice but did not appoint them to our case. Even though we did not actually fully appoint them as a representative we still submitted imm5476 (on their advice) to state that we had consulted with a lawyer.
So even though we share the same address should I have appointed my wife as a representative?
Here are the letters we received..

So you are NOT using a lawyer to represent you? If that is the case, then there is no need for you to appoint your wife unless you particularly want to. It is pretty common if you are doing this all yourself to not have an appointment of representative form at all (we didn't). All it means is that the sponsor when they create a GCKEY account can only see Sponsor correspondence and the PA can only see PA correspondence! Personally, I wouldn't bother with the form, but your call!

We submitted the form because that's what they the lawyer told us to do, based on previous applications they had consulted on (not represented). I'm just trying to figure out why it was returned and what I can do differently when we re-submit. From what I've read if we've paid someone for advice even if they're not fully representing us it still has to be declared.
