Application Returned: School Records

We had submitted Citizenship Application in early Sept and got back yesterday with the Cover Letter mentioning

"Please provide photocopies of all official school records for you and any dependent children for the 4 year period"

The children applications however, have attachment stating "Your Application is considered complete. However, as you submitted your application with a family member whose application was incomplete, the entire package is being returned."

We have attached the following with the application when sent in Sept:

1. Letter from School with SEAL
2. Every Semester Report Cards including Mid-Term and Final for past 3 Years (Since we arrive in Canada)

The Letter from Schools are STAMPED by CPC-SYDNEY as RECEIVED and returned with package.

I have not attended any school since arrival in Canada or in last 4-Years except Linc Program (which I included detailed activity and Linc Certificate)


Please help me guide what is missing in OFFICIAL SCHOOL RECORDS.

Well you should include the school record for your kids for 4 years period that include the school they attend before moving to Canada if I assume you moved from ( home country ) here before 3 years , just like the address section they will ask the address for 4 years and not only since you arrive to Canada.

Thanks Saloo... that does make sense of returning application since I only included Kids School records since arrival in Canada - missing the one year back home...

I was thinking of going to school and getting a fresh School Attendance Certificate to be included just to prove that we are here as against to leaving after applying for citizenship...

I was also suspecting that CIC is using a tactic to find out who after applying - left the country and they ask these records again...

mjm, your analysis is not true. They are not trying to find out if you are here or not. If they suspect anything they will send you an RQ. But that's far away in the timeline.

Anyhow, your case is pretty simple. They need documents (school in this case) for the past 4 years. You handed only for the past 3 years. They need a complete file to start processing your application. Just give them what they want and you and your family will be ok ;D

Include your education from back home(Transcript, certificate, degrees, high school - must be in English or you translate).

If I were you, I will include my job letter (show start date and pay stubs). They just want to know if you have basic knowledge of English and if you're in Canada since you arrive at landed immigrant(verying 1095).

we are on the same boat, which date you applied and when did they receive your application? i got my application back with same reason,we are here only for 3 years,i do not have any reports for my kids from our country of origin, but i have transfer certificate from old school, i hope i can submit that,

In my case I have not attended any school in Past 4-Years... So I'll mention NOT APPLICABLE for myself.

Added Letter from Home School and Term Report Cards to cover 4th Year (3 in Canada + 1 in Home Country).

I applied just a few days ago myself. I was particularly concerned with the official school records completeness for my daughter as I had read many stories of applicants whose cases were returned with a statement: “school records incomplete”. I even called them and spoke to an agent. She explained that often people submit a free style letter from schools saying that such and such attends such and such school. Such a document is an unacceptable for CIC even though it confirms the fact that the applicant’s child attends the school. What they need instead though is a document that in many schools would be referred to as a quarterly report card that often comes on 7-8 pages, has a photo of the student, marks and scores, and a tabulated attendance record (i.e., how many days possible to attend in the reported quarter vs. how many the student attended). Also there is a document called “attendance profile” that you can ask from the school at any time, and which will be a listed daily attendance record. I submitted it along with the quarterly report cards, but I suspect that some folks submit it in lieu of the official quarterly report cards, which results in the case returned.

Another reason for rejection is quite lame but I know for a fact they use it to reject, here is a scenario: there is a family applying that consists of a man and wife and 1 child. Both fill out their own application forms and both are expected to submit the same report cards for the single child. One of the parents attaches the school records to his/her application, whilst the other does not, logically assuming that one submission will be enough, and should the CIC require a second copy they will just make one. Guess what – they don't! They reject it.

We did included every term school report cards showing attendance and progress, letters from school.

My wife had attended LINC program and we mentioned in Work History for the periods she attended LINC... We also included LINC Attendance details for my Wife, LINC Certificate...

Do you think that we revert back to school and ask them a fresh school certificate... attendance record and attach again.

May be its the LINC documents are missing somehow then. Call LINK if you can and check with them on the format.
