Hello all, after sending my inland spousal sponsorship + OWP application package over a month ago, we finally received an email yesterday saying that the package was "received"!

I'd like to ask you guys what to do or expect from here on out?

Does the next step involve CIC just letting us know when the application begins processing, or if its been accepted or rejected, and if so how long does this roughly take?

Thanks, any advice would be helpful

The next step will be when your OWP magically arrives in your mailbox, as long as you still had legal status in Canada on the day that CIC received your package. This seems to take ~ 4 months after CIC has received the Inland application and OWP, which you hopefully sent in the same envelope.

Then, after ~ 17 months, your sponsor will be approved and you will receive your AIP letter, telling you that you are now eligible to apply for PR (which you already did, 17 months ago).

Sometime after that stage, (could be same day, next day, or several weeks later) assuming that you included your medical and required PCC letters with your application, you will receive a DM letter.

Then, you are contacted by your local CIC office and given a date and time for your landing interview.

Thank you for the excellent summary Ponga!

When you say that as long we had legal status when CIC received the package, do you mean when they received it by mail? Or when they sent us the "recieved" email 1.5 months later.

Either way, we should have legal status on both accounts. The physical package arrived at CIC well before her status expired, and this "processing" email arrived when we are on the implied status / pending answer of the visitor extension we applied for before her status expired.
