hi guys!

my ecas has just changed to IN PROCESS yesterday.

going 15 mos now ???

I think it because they have asked you for that police certificate. In the email you got is there a time period mentioned, like 30 days or something submit the certificate? Most probably you will have a new BF Date based on that. In your ECAS, when you click In Process does it say which date they started processing your file?

I have applied in June and did my medical in first week of November. My understanding medical is valid for one year. Do you push your VO? It's been over 2 months since I have checked with them. Thinking of sending another generic e-mail.

I emailed twice and got the same stupid automated reply

sim - i guess if you are going there just for stamping yes you can go. Because you will have a single entry visa in ur passport and when you enter Canada you will do the landing procedure.

With just work permit you cannot travel, border services need valid visa.

I have gone back and forth from Canada to the USA on an expired visa sticker and never had an issue.

You are kidding me.... i called those border services so many times and the only answer they gave me was you need visa to enter canada.

i think i am very special for those border services people.....
BTW - did you drive to USA ? and when you enter canada did they not ask you for a visa ?

I kid you not. My work permit was always valid though.

I actually drove to the states about 4 or 5 times and NEVER had an issue. Just about 2 months ago I went to NY and came back by plane and although the airline was kinda hesitant to let me board, they finally did and when I got to Canada--the immi officer said nothing about it.

May I leave, then re-enter Canada?

In order to return to Canada, you must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document. You also need to hold a valid study or work permit if you are returning to study or work in Canada.

If you are a citizen of a country that requires a temporary resident visa (TRV) to travel to Canada, you will also need to be in possession of a valid entry visa to return, unless:
•you are returning to Canada following a visit only to the United States or St-Pierre and Miquelon; and
•you return before the expiry of the period initially authorized for your entry or any extension to it, either as a visitor, student or worker.

Possession of these documents does not guarantee re-entry. All persons must establish that they meet all of the requirements of The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations before being authorized to enter or re-enter Canada

This was taken from CIC website.

Thats wht I thought coz visa or work permit is kinda invalid once the pp is stamped as an immigrant .. Same as ppl who come for for first time as all they hav a COPr and immigrant sticker on pp.. Makes sense I guess??
