Hello, I'm a student from Hyderabad, India and recently got admission at MacEwan university pursuing a 2yr diploma. I would like to apply visas for my spouse (open work permit) and 10yr old son (education) and move to Canada together. I started the online application process and have the following questions...

1. I selected 'Open Work Permit' for my spouse, but the application still asks me to provide 'Purpose of Travel (Other)' information. Does this mean he can only come to Canada temporarily and need a return ticket?

2. It's asking us to provide an 'Letter of Acceptance' for our son as well. Does it mean, we need to get him into a school, and get a letter in advance and only then he can travel with us?

3. For 'Proof of means of Financial Support' - what is the best format to show assets like gold, house/land?

4. Is it better to submit online application or submit hard copies?

Thanks for your time!

Hello Kavya!

I can help with your question no. 3, for other questions someone else may answer.

Assets like house/land are good to show your connection back home and will help in convincing the VO that you'll be coming back after your studies and you have no plans to stay in Canada (everybody knows that you want to stay there only but it doesn't matter)

If you are planning to show these as your proof of funds then it's a problem as POF should be liquid assets like cash, bonds, shares, fixed deposits, PF, PPF etc. which can be liquidated easily and faster.
If you need cash in Canada how your land in India will help in that?
Don't know what you have shown in liquid assets but if you take a education loan by holding that land as security, it would work perfectly.

Congarulations for your admission and "Good Luck" for Visa.

Thanks for your response. I do plan to show liquid assets like cash and fixed deposits. However, wanted to know if there is a specific format to show house/land.
