Hi, I just have a few questions about the CIC processing times. According to their website, Step 1: Assessment of Sponsors takes 90 days and they are still working on applications received on February 7, 2012 --- I sent my application May 14, 2012. These infos listed on the website, are they really accurate?

Most of the people I know who have sponsored their spouses in the past years told me that they receive their sponsor approval in just a month or so... So I was wondering if the infos they provide in the website are accurate or just merely estimates? And I wonder if it's true that we can receive our sponsor approval within one month? Were there any changes with the application times nowadays compared to the past 2 years or so?

I'm sponsoring my husband from the Philippines. Anyone who had any experience about these inquiries? Thanks so much for all your help. :)

Seems like recently lot of ppl are applying so the timeline is getting bigger and bigger for step 1.

I am watching it since it was 45 days and now it is 90 days.

looking at the thread of ppl applied in Feb, it looks like people are still waiting. So unfortunately need to wait a bit.

I applied on 20th March and haven't heard anything so far.

I also know many people who got visa in 4-5 months but seems like lot of people got married this year.lol

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it does seem like the timeline has gotten longer. Lots of sponsorship happening at this time of year I guess... I hope all goes well to you too. :)

I think there is another reason other than the high volume of the sponsorship applications. We'll wait and see..

I applied for step 1 back in end of October 2011. At the time, the wait time was 45 days and subsequently increased over November. It was the end of December when they got back to us, so it did take the full listed average time.

45 days are still OK, but waiting for 90 days to hear anything from them, and even after 90 days they are not regularly updating the status which really sucks.

Our initial sponsorship application from our daughter in Canada was sent to CIC in June 2011. There has been no acknowledgement of it till date, nor any correspondence regarding providing file number.
Does anyone have similar or different experience in this regard? How long should awarding file number take? Thanks

Patience is a virtue... processing times have exponentially increased in the past 6 months or so. We are all in the same boat, but it would be nice if CIC decided to send timely AOR's... we'll just have to sit and wait.

Good luck.

Hello same goes for me. My papers went in March 20th and not a word and its been 70days..
A contact advise last year she received word exactly 30 days after her papers were received.
When I first put the papers in the time was 55 days then jump to 59..75.. up and up to 90 and its been at 90 for 4 weeks or so.. I have figured out they only update the websiet on Thursday afternoon so it was just updated and it makes it easier to know when to look!
Good luck to all of us!!

We don't really know why Stage 1 is taking so long. They haven't announced anything. But yeah it used to be around 30 days and now it is 90 days. The last person I know to get approved waited 87 days. But others have been waiting over 100 days. I don't think it is going to get faster anytime soon, unfortunately.

But the good news is stage 2 is WAY faster than what CIC says. At least for most people.

Mexico sent out an email to a forum member and it said the average time is 6 months. According to CIC, 20% finish in 5 months. They do the biggest number - how long it takes 80% to finish which is 13 months.

You can see the more detailed processing times including the time it took to process 20%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 80% of cases in the thread at: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/case-processing-speed-at-visa-offices-step-2-t102206.0.html

To give you an idea, I recieved sponsor approval yesterday and originally submitted at beginning of March. They are getting quicker though! Hang in there!
