Hi everyone:

I applied under QSW (did the TEFAQ and a QC university degree) under the PEQ track. I recently received a request to mail in my passport in the next 30 days. However, I'm currently in Pakistan (cancer diagnosed for a close family member) and wanted to remain here until January. I can not mail my passport from Pakistan as it's illegal to do so.

While the cancer crisis has passed (the patient still needs lots of help throughout the day..) I wanted to stay until mid January. If absolutely needed of course I can go back to Canada and mail in my passport. However once there I'll be stuck until I get my PR card (if hopefully all is well) so I'll be stuck in Canada for a little while..

My job gave me leave (on the understanding if it's too much time off and if work goes way up they'll hire someone else..)

Please advise.. I've been a lurker and you have helped me already. For this though, I didn't really find a lot of data for people who apply inside Canada but are away when the passport request comes in.

Thank you!

whats your timeline, the federal part of the timeline and i think you can still submit your passport even if your are outside, there is no need to worry.

Applied federally September 2015, application processing started Dec 2015, they asked for police certificate March 2016 (delays on my end meant they got it in May 2016), they asked for updated Schedule 1 (the one with the jobs and addresses etc) Sept 2016. Now they're asking for the passport (the email said Ready for Visa..)

They mentioned if I can't send within 30 days I need to sent it to a particular email (CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca) to advise them of my situation. (now, I do intend on doing that of course but I wanted to be sure before I went ahead and did so..)

Thank you!

I think the best way is to call them and tell them the situation you are in.

Another thing you can do it send an email to cpc Ottawa for the same. They usually reply within a week.

Thanks

Hi,
I am not sure, it will help you or not, but you can try. I know, some country (including my country) sending passport by mail is illegal. But VFS are authorized to send it. I am sure you will be able to send your passport via VFS. You have to pay some fee. Please read the following link.

http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/Pakistan/Service_and_Service_Charge.html

There is a option "Passport Transmission Service" and the fee is PKR 1,332.00.

My wife applied for visitor visa from Montreal (VO Ottawa) but she had to leave urgently and once CIC asked to send passport, she gave it to our local VFS office with fee.

Thanks

Thanks everyone, thought I'd update here for anyone in a similar situation. I emailed CIC-Ottawa and CIC-Islamabad with the word Urgent in the subject line (along with the other required details). I explained what the situation is and they got back to me within 3 days (I actually got a call) saying that's not a problem, they'll send me a new letter with directions for using the Islamabad office. I followed those, got my visa in a week, and then landed as planned later in January.

Once again, thanks for your time and help!
