Hello

My wife and I got married in July this year and she has been living with me since then. Our PR application is in process and since she is an American Citizen (a visa exempt country - can visit for upto 6 months), she was visiting me. We are not planning to go to the states for thanks giving and drive back into canada and this time ask for a VISITORS RECORD. We will have all our official documents proving our relationship etc. Does any one have any suggestions on how to approach the immigration officers to have the process go smoothly?

Thanks

When my husband and I did it we drove up to the booth in Fort Erie, told the IO we had just got married and wanted a VR he gave me a piece of paper I went into Immigration and 10 mins later I had the VR. Just remember don't use the word "living" she has been "visiting" you since you got married and would like to remain visiting you until the process is done. Only thing you NEED is a copy of the receipt proving you paid the PR fee's and your marriage certificate, other then your passport of course. They do NOT have to give you a VR it is still completely up to their discretion, tho most do not have a problem. Good Luck!

Can I tell them that I am visiting my husband and have them stamp my paassport ( they usually just scan it)? They never have stamped it before but they enter my number in each time. How can I get the record of this? Or do I even need it?
