Hi,

First of all, I would like to say a BIG thankss to everyone who has been doing suchh an amazing job in these forums. For me, it is something new as I only started using these forums once I had to submit my own application, but it is very nice to see people taking time out of their busy schedules to help others.

I have been reading these forums for a long time now, but haven't posted anything yet.

Right now, I have a question regarding my application and I am panicking about it.

I am a resident of Saudi Arabia, and my husband is living in Canada. So he is submitting a sponsorship application for me. Almost all of my documents are fine, but I am having a very hard time getting a police clearance letter from the Riyadh visa office.

They have not been helpful at all, and rarely respond to anything I send them. They have refused to give me the request letter, even though I have talked to them and explained them everything.

So my question for now is : Is the request letter from Abu Dhabi visa office the same as the one I will receive from the Riyadh office?

Both offices can issue request letters, but we have been told that people who have their files being processed in Abu Dhabi should only be requesting it from there.

So for everyone who is a resident of Saudi Arabia but wants their case to be processed in another country (country of which they are a national) should request a letter from the Riyadh office.

Since they have not given it to me soo far, I decided to request one from the Abu-Dhabi office.

If both the letters are the same, then I will just use the one I have received from the Abu Dhabi office for my police clearance.

I have tried to search this everywhere, but no help! :( please let me know what I can do

Thank you!!

OK, assuming you are not going to have your application processed through Abu Dhabi (the embassy that processes nationals/residents of Saudi Arabia), you will not want to use the police clearance letter from there. But you don't say which embassy you do want your case processed through, so it's a bit difficult to point you to the proper form. However, I will say that I have no idea why they're telling you to go through the Riyadh office - they only process temporary status applications for nationals of Saudi Arabia.

What you want to do is look through this list from the outland application forms package, scroll down to the bottom for Part 3 and find your country in the ones listed there. Then open the corresponding link to the Regional forms. In those forms should be a police clearance letter. That's the one you want to use - along with the rest of the forms included there. Now it's possible that your country of nationality or birth is one of the other countries in the same Region as Saudi Arabia - in other words, using the same Regional forms as Saudi Arabia. If so, the form will be the same for you as for an applicant going through Abu Dhabi. But Riyadh has nothing to do with it - they don't process permanent residence applications at all.

Hi,

What country of nationality are you? you might be the same case as my spouse. My spouse was also in Saudi before, we just get anletter of request from our Embassy which is our contry of birth then we had it stamped in MFA or Ministry of Foreign affairs so my spouse can proceed and get her police certificate. The release time of police certificate is 3 weeks to 1 month. then you need to have it translated for Immigration only accept documents in english or french. Hope that helps.

If you check under police certificates on the CIC website, it states that if your application is being processed at the Abu Dhabi office, you can contact their office for a letter at If you are applying at the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, you should submit the police certificate with your application. You can contact the visa office for a request letter at fax: (971 2) 694-0396 or e-mail: abu-dhabi-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca Please include your immigration file number if you have one.

If you are going through any other office you must contact Riyad office at: For applications being processed at any other office, request letters may be obtained by e‑mail: riyadh.visa @ international.gc.ca or fax: 966-1-488-9657. Please include the file number, the office where you applied and your mailing address.

Then it states: The police certificate request letter will be sent to you by mail. You must present this letter, along with valid identification and proof of legal residency in Saudi Arabia to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If they approve you, you must then apply for the police certificate in person at the relevant police headquarters.

So you have to first know where you are applying through, because if you go through Abh Dhabi, you can avoid the hassles you are receiving from Riyad.

thank you soooooooooo much for replying everyone...I didn't think I would actually get a response from someone soo quickly

the posts have been very informative...Since I am a national of Pakistan (and only living in Saudi Arabia since a few years now), I have the opportunity to use the Abu-Dhabi visa office or the Islamabad visa office in Pakistan.

Since the visa office in Abu-Dhabi takes forever, I wanted to use the one in Islamabad. So for that, I need to request a police clearance letter from the Riyadh location. (If I was applying through Abu-Dhabi, then I would have just used the request letter they have sent me).

The Riyadh office is really hard to reach, and they have not been responding to any of my e-mails either lately.

This is the reason I kept thinking if I can use the request letter that I received from the Abu Dhabi office (as I wanted to apply from there earlier). Since both letters are basically for police clearance in Saudi Arabia, I thought they would be the same :-[ I may be mistaken, but I am not sure what to do right now.

Almost all my other documents are complete...please help!

and thank you once again!!! :D :D

Well what I told you is word for word off the CIC site, the best thing to do is to have your sponsor call the call centre and ask them about it. Going about it a different way and if you are wrong, you could cause way more delay then you thought. Try faxing them, they give you that option as well.

Being you are the resident of Saudi Arabia for more than ONE year, your visa office for processing the PR application will be ABU DHABI. As per CIC website, if your visa office is Abu Dhabi: ( I repeat what Nylalisa mentioned)
if you are applying at the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, you should submit the police certificate with your application. You can contact the visa office for a request letter at fax: (971 2) 694-0396 or e-mail: abu-dhabi-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca Please include your immigration file number if you have one..

I don't think contacting Riyadh Embassy will do any help. Amazingly you can find that once you get the request letter from Abu Dhabi, it is issued from Riyadh Embassy and not from any where else.

Once you receive the PCC request letter which will be in arabic language, you must fill up the blank portions in arabic itself (that is your name and details) and go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office at Nassariyah, Riyadh with your original IQAMA and a photocopy of it. You have to pay the necessary fee there (may be SR.60/- or more - I am not sure now). They will attest and stamp on the PCC request letter and return to you same time.

Then you can go to the Police station where the finger printing is done ( there is one at Dheirra ). You do the finger printing there at the ladies section ( not at the males section ). They will issue the PCC within a week which you or your representative can collect accordingly on the said date. Then take the arabic PCC to any licensed translator and get it translated in English.

Hope this will make you clear.

thank you sooo much everyone!!!! I appreiciate the help soooo much! :) :)

I can apply through the Abu-Dhabi visa office if I want. However, since I am a national of Pakistan, I want to apply through the visa office there.

For police clearence in Saudi Arabia specifically, we need to do either one of the following.

1) Get a request letter from Abu-Dhabi visa office (but that is only for people applying through the abu dhabi office)
2) Get a request letter from the Riyadh office (that is for people applying through anyyyy other location- so this applies to me)

Since I wanted to apply through the Abu-Dhabi office before, I got a request letter from them. However, I changed my mind then and now I want to apply through the visa office in Islamabad,Pakistan.

I know the process for the visa, but I am having trouble getting the request letter for the police clearence in the first place from the Riyadh office.

This is why I was thinking if the request letter I will get from the Riyadh visa office is the same as the Abu-Dhabi one, I can use the one I have already (sent by Abu-Dhabi office)

Please let me know iif you can!

Thank you!!!

I already answered that Abu Dhabi will send you a PCC request letter in Arabic signed by an Officer of Canadian Embassy Riyadh. So if you have already a letter received from Abu Dhabi you can try with that letter for a PCC from Saudi Arabia.

Thanks a million Wilson...this is what I have been asking everyone I know...I even asked a consultant this question,

but he said that he was not sure if the letter I will recieve from Riyadh office will be the same as the one I have gotten from Abu-Dhabi.

Since no one from the Riyadh office has responded to my concerns, I hope to use the letter I already have from the Abu-Dhabi visa office to get a police clerence from Saudi Arabia

Thankssss for all the help!

My Wife was also a Resident of Saudi Arabia Before. She is working at Jeddah and when she process the Police Clearance Certificate she went to Philippine Embassy to have a request letter for PCC stating that she needs it for immigration to Canada (SR 100). After obtaining the said request she went to MFA to have it stamped (She Paid SR 70). You'll be able to get that within a day. After the stamping of the letter she went to the Police station for the fingerprinting. She was then given a claim stub and advised to return back after 3 weeks. She got her PCC in arabic so she went to a certified translator to have it translated (I don't know how much she paid the translator). We included the Arabic PCC and the translated one together with her application. She worked in Saudi Arabia for 3 1/2 years. Our VISA office is Manila since Abu Dhabi VO will take 25 mos. to process application.

This is not to confused you! just a bit of an info how she obtain her Saudi PCC. :D
