Hi Y'all! I got an email today saying that my application had been forwarded from Buffalo to NYC "to expedite" its processing. Judging from previous threads, this sounds like generally an okay thing. Do any of you have any opinions??

And: Do you think this means they've judged the application to be complete??

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

hey bonacker,

this usually just means that there is a high volume of sponsorship applications being sent to Buffalo currently, so they will forward to an affiliate office (NY, LA, Seattle, Detroit) in hopes to speed up the processing times.

it will be up to the NY office to review and decide on your application, which i have seen take 1 month up to 6 months - HOWEVER, this depends on what you have already included in your applicaition (ie. medicals were complete, all police certificates were submitted, $490 right of permanent residence fee has been paid or if an officer is suspicious of any information in your application, you will be requested to attend an interview).

keep in mind that medical results can take up to 3 months to be received by the federal visa office - so if you have just completed them recently, there might be some more waiting to do. i would keep an eye on the time and email NY once 3-4 months have passed without further communication (NewYork-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca)

i have a feeling though you will hear from them shortly though! GL!

I received this exact same email today! All of my documents have already been submitted (i.e. police clearances, medical certificates, fees) so I hope it does not take too long. Does anyone know the percentage of spouses that are called in for interviews?

There was another poster on here whose app was forwarded to the NYC office. Just a few weeks later she got her PPR. So hopefully the same will happen for you guys!

Good luck!

Most people who I've seen have their app transferred from Buffalo to another US office ended up getting their PR soon after that. So yeah, I think it's good. Good luck!

hello!
my husbands application was sent to nyc from buffalo... he recieved a letter saying that was being sent there to expedite the process... and only a month later he received his passport request!! when his application reached nyc his ecas status didn't say anything about medicals being received... so, we sent ottawa a fax requesting for his medicals to be forwarded to nyc. right now, we are just waiting for his passport to be sent back!

Hi everyone

My husband and I recvd notice from Buffalo April 11 that his file has been received. We are excited and hoping things progress quickly from here. Our problem is we really want to book a trip to Mexico for August but are scared his PR will not be complete, or they will requst his passport right before we go away.... has anyone recently completed a PR going through Buffalo? If so how long did it take?

Congratulation :) Can I ask when was the file transfer to Buffalo before Buffalo sent email to you that they received your file? My file has been transfered to Buffalo on Mar-29 and I'm still waiting for e-mail from them.

Thanks.

Buffalo will probably get back to you in a month with an update if they are transferring it to a local consulate. Not sure if they will get in touch with you if they are processing it in Buffalo.

No word at all from the NYC office yet.

Waiting . . . waiting . . . silence . . .

PS: Alisa -- As far as I can recall, Buffalo had my application for about a month before they emailed me to say that the file had been transferred to the New York City office.

Thanks bonacker.

I just got email from Buffalo 5 min ago to confirm that they received my file :)
