Hello Everyone,

I recently got admission in one of the top-tier business schools in Canada for a masters program that only has a January intake. My university has advised me to apply for my student permit right away. I went to one of the visa consultants and he stated that I should wait till August/September. I think applying right away should not be a problem? Applying from Pakistan. Response is highly appreciated. Thanks

I don't see any reason to delay as long as you have all the documentation in order.

Maybe the consultants were referring to IELTS. On the part of the university tho, I guess Jan 2020 intake isn't open for admissions yet until August/September, and that is why the consultants advised so.

However, if you already have with you the letter of acceptance from the university, then there's no reason for you not to start the process right away

Thanks for your response. Speaking of IELTS, the university provided me an exemption for English language testing. I still gave the IELTS and got my results today.
Have an Overall 8 (L9 S8.5 R8.5 W6), should I attach this score with my visa application or is the writing score lower than requirements and can create problems. The visa checklist does not have an IELTS requirement either. TIA

In your case, I think it would be best not to attach your IELTS score anymore because the embassy might hold you to it (W lower than desired band for admission). I think you can request the university to provide you a letter / confirmation which exempts you from IELTS, then show it to the embassy.

What univ is this?

Good luck!
