It's complicated - on the one hand, these are YouTube comments, which are always terrible.
On the other, it's also bad optics to be having a physical protest in the middle of a pandemic and honestly, the CBC coverage didn't actually do a good job of making the case of why this was an issue, which only added fuel to the fire. The people in those videos kept saying that their lives were 'in limbo', but didn't really expand on anything that specifically was an obstacle for them given they were already safe and unharmed in this country and there was no removal order for them. Ditto for the other person in that video with a 'talking head' bit.
I am happy that the issue is being brought to public view, but as a news story, it could have been framed better. Then again, as one other poster here said - public support isn't really needed for this cause, political visibility is.
