Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

Hi! What a great guide! I had a couple of questions and I hope someone here can help.
This is my calculated eligibility period: 2015-08-10 to 2020-08-10 using the physical presence calculator tool.
Q10a) Please list all addresses.....
I moved here in 2017-05. Prior to that I had been living in my home country at the same address for pretty much my whole life!
Should the lowest row in the Q10a) table be filled out as
I was employed prior to moving here in 2017-05, and had been at my last place of employment since 2012
Should the lowest row in the Q11) table be filled out as
In the third column which asks for "Occupation, field of...." should I put in my position title from my home country e.g. "Product Manager" or something generic like "Banking" or "Consumer Finance"

For your time before moving to Canada, You should refer to your PR application details and mention exactly what you submitted in that to avoid any confusions on IRCC part.
1) I used the eligibility start date for both these questions as they are specifically asking for addresses and personal history within the eligibility period and I think this is perfectly fine.
2) I would recommend adding your title.

I have a question regarding citizenship application. I got confused with how my last name should be entered in the application.
So anyone can please suggest me what to do in this situation, I heard rajkamalmohanram suggested so many people. It would be really appreciated for any help.
So at the time I applied for my PR, in my old passport, all my work permits, Canadian Id’s and Co-PR I had my last name as ‘blank’ and first name as ‘XXXX Singh’. So basically my first name includes my first name and last name both. When my passport renewal time came, I renewed it with my first name as ‘XXXX’ and last name as ‘Singh’.
Now when I am trying to fill the application form for citizenship I am getting confused whether I should enter my last name as ‘blank’ or as ‘Singh’. According to the advices I have got so far it seems like I have to go with one of the following option but I need advise to figure out which option could be ideal for this scenario so that my application should be processed smoothly without getting returned from CIC:
1. First option is to get my Co-PR corrected, by applying for amendment which will take approximately 6 months. But confusions with this way are:
. My IELTS has last name as blank, will CIC accept that document for me?
. Providing explanation letter will be sufficient?
2. Second option is to get my Last name changed to ‘blank’ on my Indian passport from BLS (Indian Consulate). The processing time is one month. I hope CIC will not question if my last name will get amended as blank which will match with all my Canadian credentials when I will submit it with the copy of my current passport which has the last name as ‘Singh’.
3. Third option could be to provide an affidavit along with application which can explain that it’s a same person even though last name varies in old and renewed passport.
With all this now I am worried that when I will be applying for the renewed PR which can be done by next month then is this name thing can cause any problem in issuing PR card because I will have to submit my current passport which has last name and first name both?
The opinion for this situation will be appreciated.

For the first 2 years of my 5 year eligibility period, I was not in the country, but I had a valid work permit. For 9b, I said "No". Does that matter? From the application guidelines, this section is for people who actually resided inside the country on a temporary permit and claim days spent in Canada towards eligibility. Also, if I say "Yes" it asks for dates when the permit was valid.
If I say yes, it would also contradict the eligibility calculator, since it asks for temporary residences to calculate days and I said "No" to that section, as I wasn't in the country at that time.

To honestly answer that question ( 9b) you should have said YES ( as you had a temporary status during your eligibility period) being outside Canada is a different story. This is how I will do it if I were you:
1. from the calculator answer yes for the temporary status question insert your WP delivery date and expires date.
and answer yes to the question did you travel outside Canada during your eligibility period then insert the date you left and date you returned.
The calculator will do the math for you and if you have no days to claim ( during your temporary status) the calculator will let you know.
2. Then answer Yes to question 9b and insert your dates in the table, dates should match your calculator.

The dates were a bit out of range, aka, permit was issued before the 5-year eligibility period begins, and the absence from Canada also begins before the eligibility period. The calculator still did its calculations based on the eligibility window though. Would this be ok?
What are your WP dates ( delivery and expiration)? eligibility period?the date you left and returned? We cannot help without these information.
Sorry. Eligibility period is 2015-09 to 2020-09. WP dates were 2014-06 to 2017-06. I was outside the country between 2015-07 to 2017-09. I put all the dates as I mentioned here. The calculator indicated that some dates were out of range, but it still let me proceed, and calculated the dates correctly (aka, correctly ignoring the out of range dates I input, so it only took into account the days that were actually within the eligibility period)
I see I will put WP from 2015-09 to 2017-06 in the calculator as the question is about your eligibility period anything before 2015-09 is irrelevant.
Also, use your time outside as 2015-09 to 2017-09. In the application form in question 9b answer yes and insert temporary status from 2015-09 to 2017-06 as here too is about eligibility period. You may need to add a letter of explanation and state your actual WP dates and actual date you left Canada and why you did not consider 2014-06 to 2015-08. Other forum members may have better suggestions.
