Actually she to put all her addresses she changed even with in a city or 2 cities in a residence and same addresses even she was unemployed during this period . It's easy to fill if she was unemployed but just copy and paste but just put unemployed as a profession.

• Like I mentioned in the previous section, the online physical presence calculator is much easier to work with instead of trying to calculate manually.

How do you enter time that was spent unemployed/waiting for a work permit in the Calculate Physical Presence?

Jan 2017 - August 2017 Was the duration of my school (2 semesters)

Jan 2017 - Nov 2017 Was the duration of my study permit
Nov 2017 - I applied for a Post Grad Work Permit
Jan 2018 - I received the Post Grad Work Permit
Feb 2018 - Started work

I was physically in Canada during these dates, so do I enter
International Student - Jan 2017 - Jan 2018
Temporary Worker - Jan 2018 - etc

Need one help in filling out the checklist... I have changed my surname post marriage and got the PR card. Now, while applying for citizenship, do I need to check the box of changed my name and provide all the documents.... or as the PR card is already on the new surname, I should not check this box in the checklist.. please help

Hi All,
I applied for Citizenship in Aug 2020. I have now received invitation for the oath ceremony, however at this time I am in India due to family emergency and therefore cannot travel back to Canada. I understand that the oath can only be taken while one is inside Canada. Is there any exception to this rule? If yes, can someone please answer:
a) An estimate as to how long it take to receive the certificate of citizenship and passports(will make a separate application)
b) Since I'll be required to destroy the PR cards during the ceremony, is there a way to travel to Canada before I receive my new passports?

I don't think so. PCCs are only needed when the stay abroad is for a continuous period of 180 days or more AFAIK.

Hi, I had a few general enquires about applying for citizenship using the online form. I really hope someone experienced with the online application for citizenship can answer these:

1. I noticed a discrepancy between the paper and online application. The online application asks for a scan of the passport’s bio page, but the long instruction guide for the paper application asks to scan every single page of the passport. Do I scan every page for my online application, or ignore the instruction guide for the paper application and just scan the bio page of my passports?

2. When the form asks for any travel documents and passports, does that include submitting my PR card and visas for other countries over the last 5 years, or only my valid passports over that time?

3. For the question that asks if I have ever held immigration or citizenship status in another country, one of the options is “Visitor” in the drop down. Does that mean I have to put down every country I have ever visited in my life with the exact dates including from longer than 5 years ago? Or is it only asking for my birth citizenship country (which I have already put down) and nothing else?

To explain, I've been in Canada as a PR since 2003 but finally got around to submitting my citizenship application in February 2021. I'm now 60 so it seems that the citizenship test won't be required, meaning that it is just my language skills that they are still assessing. Fingers crossed they should conclude the whole thing in the next few months.

However, I now realise I have done a really stupid thing and it has got me panicking. I had a current PR status at the time I submitted my citizenship application, but it has subsequently expired. For some idiotic reason, I got it into my head that I didn't need to renew it since I had a citizenship application being actively processed. However, this obviously seems not to be the case, and I'm slapping myself.

My question here is, how much trouble am I in and what can I do about it? I have had no communication with any IRCC official about this as I only woke up to myself this morning, and now I'm as embarrassed as I am nervous. I could send in a PR renewal application in a hurry to try and cover myself, but there will still be a gap since the last one expired in April 2021 that I will have difficulty explaining.

Any advice/information/strategic insults gratefully received.

Hi Nigel,

You are not in trouble as having an expired PR card doesn't mean you are out of status or illegal or anything like that. You should renew it though in case you need to travel out of the country as you'll need it to come back.

PR card expiry has nothing to do with your status as a Permanent Resident in Canada. They're separate things. So, you're good to go!

In practice, a person doesn't have to ever renew his/her PR card and remain in Canada all their life as long as they don't travel internationally.

The process is more or less the same. Instead of filling out a PDF, you fill the information on an online form, that's all.

They'd most likely (99.9%) ask you to submit all the pages of your passport anyway at a later point in time so I'd recommend that you go ahead and submit it along with the initial application. It might save you some time.

Your PR card or your visas are NOT travel documents. "Travel Documents" = Passport OR Refugee Travel document (that allows refugees to travel internationally in-lieu of a passport).

Does that mean I have to put down every country I have ever visited in my life with the exact dates including from longer than 5 years ago? If I were you, I'd add all statues I had to the best of my knowledge. When I applied back in September 2020, the paper application form did not mandate entering visitor status. Now that the form explicitly has that status in the dropdown, I'd strongly recommend that you fill out that information to the best of your knowledge.
