4th line "decision made" appears after your visa is stamped by the VO and your passports are ready to be send back to you.

Hello everyone,

I just joined this forum as I am in dire need for answers. I have posted the below in another thread as well, where I am awaiting replies.

I am a Canadian citizen and I am sponsoring my wife from Bosnia and Herzegovina where she currently resides.

On January 20, 2015, CIC received our application at the Mississauga Case Processing Centre.

On March 24, 2015, we received a letter advising that I had met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor and that the application was sent to Vienna for further processing.

When I check our application status on the website, all I have is the following:

1. We received your application for permanent residence on January 20, 2015.

2. Medical results have been received.

I also paid the fees in the amount of $1,040 up front, which amount was was already charged on my credit card.

Below are the questions that I would have:

1. Has the application been sent to Vienna? It appears as though the "application received" refers to Mississauga, given the date.

2. What should be the next step in this entire process, and when should we expect to see it happen?

3. How accurate are the timelines posted on the CIC's website? The Vienna Office shows 17 months as waiting time.

4. When is it a good time to contact the Vienna Office to enquire about the application's status?

I would be extremely grateful if I could obtain answers to those questions, and hopefully I can answer some of yours in the future.

Finally, I was also wondering whether there is an existing chart for applicants to the Vienna Office.

Hey Boris, I think there is nothing to worry about and you will hear from Vienna office very soon. I heard that it takes around 2 weeks to transfer the file from CiC to Vienna so your file is probably there, ready for processing. 17 months is not very accurate but depends on the application and sometimes interview is required in cases like this but not sure if can happen after MR. If you contact VO you will receive answer very soon with the status of your application, but I think you should wait a week or 2 more before you contact them. Good luck

i agree with everything vikiwow said.
1. this is the confirmation that your file has been received by vienna. once your case is in process in vienna, you get your ecas line with the text you've mentioned. they always put the date your file was received in the first cio office (in your case mississauga CPC).
2. since your medical exam result's been processed. and you paid the fee, i'm sure next step is to send the passports for stamping. this usually takes place couple of weeks after the fee is paid (if everything goes smoothly).
3. regarding the vienna timeline... i really believe that this 17 months they've mentioned is the last day of the complete processing, when something needs to be re-checked ,or when they call in for an interview or ask for additional documents... we were lucky, the 2014. applicants.. most people so far finished their whole process within 9 months, and i'm hoping the rest of us will have similar timeline. i am not familiar with cases of sponsoring, but i guess it should not differ much. right now, on cic website, for fsw applicants, it show that processing time is 29 months :/
4. i believe few weeks after you had last contact or last activity is a good time to ask further questions. at least for impatient me! they respond within couple of days.
i've never heard that there is a chart for vienna applicants only, but you can filter the main excel sheet for vienna applicants and get the overall picture. here is the link http://tinyurl.com/FSW14-Spreadsheet

The most frustrating thing about this process is that the timelines depend on the case officer assigned to each file; it seems like there is no actual rule of thumb for anything.

oh yes, you got that right! that is 100% truth! my file was rejected once, because the reviewing officer did not want to read the file. they've deducted my money for processing, and then rejected the file. few months later, i've sent the exact same file, and they've accepted it. so yes, it solely depends on reviewing officer's mood at the given moment :/

If that logic is correct there is 5 more months for me to wait since Wikivow and I are same NOC...

Arrange your trip to Vienna too, haha You just have to wait till they finish with June applicants and then your turn will come

thanks for trying to "help me out", but i'd rather believe my hunches! 26-09 is waaaaayyyyy too long period for waiting i was looking through SS this morning (again!), and concluded that my MR email should be here sometime between today and 20th (of may!) i saw that most of vienna applicants got their mr's around three months from their PER date (a week before or week after), and three months for me will be on the 13th of may.
but i will certainly stay positive! (i apologize to "serious" members for spamming this thread with my hunches so much! )

did you ask about your status at all since your PER?
