In Quebec they recommand to take medical insurance for 3 months cause they say it takes 3 months to receive your health insurance card (carte d'assurance maladie)... can you share your experience did it really take 3 months to receive your card or much faster?... paying for 3 months for an insurance seems expensive thank you

From which country are you? Because my husband got his DM, we went to get his Health insurance card at the RAMQ and he was from one of some exempt countries (He is from Denmark). You can probably find the PDF on google about exempt country that aren't included in the 3 months delay. It took 10 days for my husband to receive his card... Read about it on the website of the RAMQ :)

I just found what you're talking about: Agreements with other countries:

The Québec government has entered into reciprocal social security agreements, which include a health component, with the following countries:

Belgium;
Denmark;
Finland;
France;
Greece;
Luxembourg;
Norway;
Portugal; and
Sweden.

The purpose of these social security agreements is to promote mobility between Québec and the signatory countries.

Under these agreements, temporary workers, students and detached workers may be eligible for the Québec Health Insurance Plan and benefit from the provisions of those agreements. Among other things, they save persons arriving from outside Canada from having to wait for up to 3 months before becoming eligible for the Health Insurance Plan.
